Regional Variant Concept -- Ninetales [Art by Lay]
Ninetales is one of my favorite ''Genwunners'', and I came up with the idea to turn this fiery vixen into a more serene version of itself.
What if, in a future region, we would get a Water type Ninetales? This could be its appearance if this were to happen -- A more caramel brown color mixed with the light blue of the ocean.

Thank you! The paws are a bit off but other than that, I managed to get the body shape correct.
Thanx! I thought the idea of a more tranquill version of the fan-favorite vixen would be cool! So I made some art of it. 🦊💦
Ooh! I like this variant! Would it be a WATER / GROUND type? The coloring makes me think of it having these particular attributes. It could also have one of those interesting Pokedex entries of how it is known to lead wary travelers to water, or to trick them into meeting their end in a watery grave. (Some Pokedex entries are downright scary.).
That's indeed a good point.
And the Water type is obvious. However, to diverge a bit more from Kantonian Ninetales, I planned to make it Water/Ghost type. Ninetales learns some Ghost type moves, after all. Many people think it should've been Fire/Psychic, because it has been known to be capable of using psychic powers. But I believe the Ghost typing also works really well, and it fits with the more calm approach of water. One example of this type combination working well, is with the Jellicent family from Black & White.

Oh! You just reminded me of that episode that took place during Johto where, if I am remembering right, there was a ghost NINETAILS that remained in a derelect mansion for its master to come home. However, there was no way the master would come back for its faithful Pokemon. So, as a result, Ash & friends had to help it understand that, like its master, NINETAILS needed to allow itself to leave the mortal plane to rest in peace.
There is also all the stories about Kitsune in Japanese lore that give them Ghost-like qualities. :)

That is exactly where I got the Ghost type idea from, to tell you the truth -- It was inspired by the Kitsuné. Ninetales as a Pokémon species already is, but this makes even more sense!
