Mega Evolution Concept -- Luvdisc [Art by Lay]
Another Mega Forme Concept! This time, I wanted to do another Hoenn Pokémon that doesn't already have one as of Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. And wouldn't you know it, many people saw Alomomola during the reveal of Sun & Moon and thought it was a new evolution for the Rendezvous Pokémon, but alas, that wasn't the case.
I made a Mega Evolution Concept for this Pokémon for this very reason, simply due to me getting inspired by what many PokéFans were hoping but didn't end up getting.
Speaking of -- I might end up doing my own Concept Art for a Mega Flygon one day, as that Pokémon has certainly become the most famous for not getting a Mega during the ORAS runtime. The reason? The devs at GameFreak simply weren't sure what to turn the poor dragonfly into when Mega Evolving. Are you frikking kidding me?

LUVDISC was the first Pokemon my son, Peep, ever became interested in. I just barely remember what it looked like, as he bought it at a GameStop the same year I lost the rest of my eyesight.
I am quite surprised that this Pokemon hasn't gotten any evolutions, baby forms, or other notable variant. Despite this, he made sure I caught lots of LUVDISC when it would come around in Pokemon Go. This year, the Valentine's Day events earned us a shiny one, too!

Thanks for doing art for such a lesser-known, but very lovable Pokemon.

Thanks, Yosh! Thank you for the nice words!
Is your eyesight getting better already?
I hope it's not permanent? 😟

Well, unfortunately, my eyesight is gone forever. The condition I was born with, 'Glaucoma', could only be treated through surgical intervention so many times before the integrity of the eye itself could no longer function. I enjoyed just short of 37 years of usable vision that gradually became absolutely nothing. This amount of time is far more than was expected when I was born in 1980.
For a time, I tried to hope that medical science would advance enough to repair the damage Glaucoma had done to my eyes. Medical science is getting closer, but not close enough to ever give me back my eyesight. Though, as a plus, I did have my diseased and damaged eyes removed between 2019 and 2022. This means I no longer need medications to treat such a bothersome, ocular disease that is far more common to show itself later in one's life. I also will, soon, have two prosthetic eyes that look so real that even an eye doctor cannot tell that they are false.

I hope you do not mind me sharing the above information. I try to help not only advocate positively for those within the 'Blind Community', but also show how those of us with disabilities are capable of far more than most would suspect if we are given the tools to bypass what our physical and/or psychological disability makes it harder, or otherwise impossible, to do. :)
The other nice thing is that, with time, I realized what doctors learned in treating my condition has made it so others may maintain their eyesight even longer than I did. For example, my sister, Winry, was born 3 years after me and with the same ocular disease. However, given what was learned from the successes and failures in treating me, she can still see with a degree of usable eyesight in her right eye. This means that, in July, she will be able to see the birth of her first child, Owlbert!
I also can share that, when my Peep was born, we had him checked for signs of having been born with Glaucoma. He does not have it. However, if he were born with it when he came into the world in 2007, he would have kept enough eyesight to legally obtain a Driver's License in the USA! Given my sister's kid is going to be born in 2023, I doubt being born with Glaucoma would have much impact on his quality of life.

I hope you do not mind that I comment on your work. The arts have always been my way of finding peace and happiness despite how people in RL treat me like a 'Blind Person' instead of someone who just happens to have no eyesight. My imagination and ability to think is still very strong and, when I see your work, I find myself visualizing what my eyes cannot see based upon what and how you describe it.

Really well said, Yosh! I respect your history, and I wish you and your family the best of luck, and don't let bad eyesight get in the way of life.
