Y'know, it's weird that despite most of my furry OCs being really important in terms of the lore of the world I'm coming up with, this relatively minor side-character is technically the first "lore-dump"/"reference" image that I'm putting up on FurAffinity.

Anyway, experimenting with a racoon OC(s) that's basically two separate beings in one body. Flynn is the tiny goober and Lync is the big one with body horror.

Basically, Flynn was abused and experimented on so much that Lync manifested to sort of protect Flynn from any more pain.

The experiments that Flynn endured were primarily with the soul, and as of now it's intentionally left vague if Lync was someone else stuck inside Flynn's body or if Flynn's trauma has manifested itself into some sort of otherworldly variant of Dissociative Identity Disorder.

Flynn is your basic jokester type of guy. Laid back and easy to get along with, he's pretty good at hiding the fact that he's a bundle of issues. Even before Lync came along, Flynn was already dealing with depression due to his extensive past, and being kidnapped and subject to horrific experiments basically caused a whole load of dominoes to fall. Also, he probably wears programmer socks and probably listens to punk rock. He also occasionally gardens, though the only things that he actually grew before... something... are thirty flowers and a single hedge. He might have played OMORI at some point.

Despite appearances, Lync is not evil, but he is the more unpleasant of the two. Lync generally wants to be left alone, and will stay out of the sidelines unless you keep pestering him. Lync serves as Flynn's protector, and tends to manifest whenever Flynn is threatened, though he does show up outside of that sometimes. Typically, Lync uses intimidation to keep people away, but will not hesitate to attack should someone be genuinely threatening. He likes listening to sad music and also romcoms. Due to him isolating himself, he's picked up reading and gaming as hobbies, and sometimes likes to manually blast games in order to see the effects.

While one of the two identities is currently active, the dormant one tends to watch from the "sidelines" as an "apparition", casually observing the other while occasionally giving small tidbits of advice. From the perspective of whichever one is not active, the world is slightly blurred and muffled, but everything is still somewhat comprehensible.

The two do not share memories, and are essentially two beings. When one is not active, it is extremely hard to actually retain any information for an extended period of time during this state.

Whenever Lync manifests, Flynn's body starts to stretch and unfold to reveal patches of skin taken from other students. Flynn's eyes start melting inwards, his nails start sharpening into claws, and his tail starts opening up to reveal that it now functions as a second mouth. Keep in mind, this is not natural in the world they live in, and neither of them were the ones who did this to themselves. This is the result of the kinds of horrific shit Flynn was put through.

Whenever Flynn manifests, the process is reversed. New eyes are created as skin starts to heal. The tail starts to close up on itself, claws begin to retract, and new flesh is created to heal the ever present wounds.

Flynn and Lync actually own special clothes that adapt to whichever one is currently out. Flynn typically wears oversized clothes to hide his scars to pretend that he's fine, while Lync uses said scars as a means of intimidation.

Lync's tail mouth is genuinely connected to his stomach, and is capable of "swallowing" things. The largest known thing he's swallowed is a small bookcase as a result of a dare between the two.

The two are around 30-ish years old by the time everything takes place, but besides that, a lot of their personal stuff is kind are either left up for debate or are being worked on right now.

Also, they went to the same school as Amy, one of my earlier OCs that isn't here because she's human, but you can find her on DeviantArt right HERE (Note: It's outdated, I will replace the link at a later date). If I ever get into game development, they might show up at the end of Amy's personal sidequest to show just how horrific the experiments done to a group of high-schoolers/college-students were.

They might've majored in something like biochemistry in college, which is ironic considering... y'know.

NOTE: Though I've made a reference to D.I.D. above, and I have done quite a bit of research in order to get Flynn and Lync's dynamic just right, the two aren't really accurate to the actual real-life disorder. For whoever's out there, please keep that in mind.
