The official day that I was told I would never see again was December 15th, 2016. I felt really bad for the doctor who had to tell me as he was the third and final specialist I was to see on that fateful day. (The first two being my Cornea specialist and Glaucoma Specialist with the bad news bringer being the Retina Specialist.).
The abridged story is that my right eye, which had been my only functioning eye since I was five years old, could no longer be surgically manipulated in a way that would not result in almost immediate failure. The ‘white’ / ‘conjunctiva’ of my eye was completely gone, which was needed to prevent the surgically-implanted ‘drainage tubes’ from becoming exposed to infection. My retina, which had been bleed into when a surgery went wrong in 2011, detached when my eye collapsed from a total lack of ocular pressure in 2012, detached again in March 2016 due to the eye’s inability to produce enough fluid to maintain the reattached retina’s integrity, and detached one final time towards the end of September 2016 could no longer be repaired, and my cornea, which had been partially replaced by DSEK after developing a corneal ulcer in 2007 from a surgical complication in November 2006 and partially replaced again in January 2016, which did take and worked until a ‘drainage tube’ exposed itself from what little conjunctiva I had left in the eye, occurred. (If the drainage tube did not become exposed, I may still have some usable eyesight today. However, as you all know, it did expose and the surgery traumatized the eye to not make enough fluid to support ocular integrity.).
It should go without saying that, in Fall 2013, I commissioned ‘Lil Moon’ to make a plushie of Snowdrop for me. This plush would join me for all of my eye appointments throughout 2014 thru 2016. She also came along for the procedures that removed my right eye in 2019 and inoculated my left eye in 2022.
Although I, regrettably, went way too ‘Super-Happy, Chirpy Birdie’ to the point I caused ‘Lil Moon’ and the voice and writer of Snowdrop, ‘Meredith Simms’, to block me on all platforms I had followed them on, I still deeply treasure what both had done in helping me to get through to where the gift of sight was mine nomore.
All my friends were there to help me through this difficult time in my life. It is unfair to name any names, but you know who you are and I will forever treasure how our friendship was able to overcome the fact I no longer could physically see your art and animations.
What did help me was a series of stories where I made the Equestrian / MLP: FiM version of Yosh share my unfortunate fate of going blind. These stories will soon be easily accessed through the Patreon that Lucca is helping me develop, but the first tale can be found over on ‘FiM Fiction’ at the following link.

The artwork was done by Coping With Limitations Through Pony contributor and presenter, Sapphire / Aricub. Other art, which was done by ‘Doodle Noodle’ and others can be found over on our Patreon page later in the day today.

Okay, I should get my dino-ducky butt back up to Papa Lucca before I get in trouble for staying up way-way-way past my bedtime. Talk with you all soon as the celebration continues!

Happy Star Day, Yosh! I hope you have a great one! *big hugs*
*Gets snug as a bug in a rug in your soft and fluffy tail* Thanks, Zoom-Zoom! There's no way I could have made it to 15 without you. (I still smile when I think of how I wrote my first 'gift story' on Star Day #1 with the aid of such a clever squiggle.).
Oh wow! This is a little bit sad story. That day should be really really difficult for you Yosh. I hope with the time you can find a way to overcome all of that. I hope that your Patreon can help you out even more
Thank you, Sweetie. It is really amazing how good things can come with enough time and being patient enough to keep working hard to make our lives the best they can be.

Thank you for supporting the Patreon, too! I have been able to read your comments through the e-mails I am sent to my Inbox. Your ideas have inspired my next update that will make being a patron worth notably more than following me on FA for as long as FA allows me to stay on its site. :)

You're very welcome Yosh. If I don't get too restricted economically maybe I could subscribe a bit longer to your Patreon. It is really nice and I'm loving it so much! Your posts are nice and I'm having a lot of fun there. When I start working I'll do my best to support you there even more.
I thank you so very much, Sweetie. $3 USD is more than enough as, honestly, it helps to inspire me to work. I really let myself become too depressed when the unfortunate events of last year caused me to not get two jobs that I had been hired for. I really just need to focus on what I 'can do' over allowing anxiety, depression, and other sad things prevent me from doing what I am able to. Even if I do need help, I am capable of doing many things if I am provided the time and/or tools to prevent my 100% blindness from getting between me, my friends, my family, and a true feeling of success.

Lucca has been reading the Patreon comments to me while I figure out how to best use it with one of my screen reading / text-to-speech programs. You had some really good ideas that, despite not being included in the more recent update, I would really like to do. I look forward to sharing more that is based on your suggestions along with hearing what you, along with others, like, don't like, or would like to see improved upon.
*Snugs* Thank you for being such a super friend, Sweetie.

*Snugs* Thank you for being such a super friend, Sweetie.
*Giggles* Quack-Quack, dino-ducky, diaper-butt accepts your input to 'Hug' and increases the 'Cuddle Factor' to 110% until friendly-feline asks for cuddling to stop. *Giggles more*
(I really did laugh as, upon reading your birthday wishes, I immediately thought about Sweetie Bot from 'Friendship is Witchcraft' based on how you shared your purrfect comment.[/i]).

This is a good little image - Yosh and Snowdrop together, in the darkness and both looking a bit uncertain, but Snowdrop being there to help support you. Just like the plush did! It's good you had them there, and all the stories and feelings at the time. It got you through everything you went through, which I image seems like the most important part!
Yep, yep, yep! You are T.O.T.S. right in how 'Snowdrop' got me through some of the worst of what I had to go through during my final days of eyesight along with saying a fond farewell to my eyes themselves.
I really think I am getting a better feeling for what I need to do and how I can make it ahppen. As you probably guessed, most of the 'Star Day' activities were meant to both share thoughts with others while also being able to better process where I've been, where I am, and where I am going. It is a lot to read, but it was all genuine and very helpful to make me able to feel a smile on my beak, more energy to do things, and confident in the life Lucca and I will be sharing together.
*Muah* Thank you for, really and truly, being the first person to ever believe in me and my talents. So many have 'said' they did while never truly being there for what I needed the most. I know I am good at helping other people and do enjoy being a happy, little helper of a duckling to anyone in any way that I can. However, really and truly, you were the true first to believe in what makes me feel flamazing. There truly is nobody like you, my Ham-Ham pal and, for as long as you'll allow me to, I shall ensure I am the best Freddy to your Pip that I can be. :)
