D&D Bio - “The One-Shots”: Varo “The Forester” Dizdal

Bio: The Feywild is a chaotic plane, where Nature triumphs over mechanical might upon the Material Plane. Within the chaos, a sect of Rangers that train under the Blackmoor Forest work as protectors of the plane & train in the dead of midnight to hunt furious beasts, both large & small.

Varo Dizdal is one of these esteemed hunters, where he has trained with them since he was a little kit. Being a Harengon with a rare disposition of antlers from the fey & his father having trained alongside him, he plans to give it his all to protect his family & planes from any monster, learn how to cook them & tell epic stories for many an ear to listen!

Except… he has trained under the Blackmoor Rangers for only a short time & only his father was the great hunter of the family. He was a nobody among his large familial unit, one of many kits looking to find his own place in it. His dad, Romok, had left him at a young age, leaving only the stories told to him & one of his katana swords he stole when he heard his parents argue for the last time. For years, he trained himself with a bow, making quick work of his natural abilities & a lot of dumb luck. He grew up & have his own family now, with his wife, Yllana & 6 kids, 3 girls (Olon, Enra, Ibboh) , 3 boys (Gozon, Eden, Galleglar)

Only Yllana knows of his exaggerations on his stories, where he can spin even the most mundane of tasks into epic adventures with his imagination. In truth, Varo wants to become a monster hunter like his father, but is scared of going to the Rangers, so he found a way to train in secret. He finds rifts & portals towards the Beastlands, a magical realm of untapped wildlife, where he learned to hunt animals & monsters over there, which has the added benefit of reviving any animal slain in that realm, so the practice can continue onward. There he trained with Nobanion, the Lion King who blessed him with his divine fire & even had a small fling with Ferrix, the goddess of were tigresses as a means of being an effective hunter.

Soon, he gained mysterious power from hanging around rifts so long, his antlers act like antenna to find nearby rifts & can even control his body to shift in & out of planes of reality itself. Soon, he is known in both planes as “The Forester” as his moniker. While he hasn’t gotten the training, he has the skills & when danger calls of a monstrous beast, he’ll sure to answer. Even if he lies & exaggerate his abilities, there’s no denying he has talent & a good heart. Someday, he’ll join the ranks of the Blackmoor Rangers, maybe even find his father to give his blessing as well towards the next generation of heroes beyond the realms.

Personality: Wise & cunning, loves to scout & gather info of any kind. Keeps a book with notes, along with family drawings from his kids that he holds like treasure. Believes in bartering skills than having cash. Known to showboat, to some degree.

Weapons: Bow & Arrow, Nature Trap & Speed Magicks & a Shortblade

Flaw: Tends to be highly emotional when things get restrictive or can’t figure out some method of attack on anything, fighting or otherwise. Has self-esteem issues & feels useless if he can’t figure our a solution, legal or otherwise.
