The first leyline creatures that were noticed were the larger ones, but the smaller creatures that inhabited the thick forested regions of Muir'Beinn took longer to become documented. One of those were the pinegolin, a squirrel-like creature that had its fur that covered its body replaced with protective scutes resembling that of a pinecone. Its body had grown larger than that of a normal red squirrel, but its ability to traverse the tree tops was unhindered. Being as large as a fox and requiring more energy perhaps than the original squirrel that it had been, pinegolins were one of the first leyline creatures that were discovered to become mostly omnivorous after originally being an herbivore. They preyed on smaller creatures like the squirrels they originated from, chipmunks, and mice in addition to a normal diet of seeds and berries.
