For those few of you keeping count, yes… this is the fourth adopt in a week. I do this - adoptable characters catch my eye, my creative wheels spin, and I bring them home to me for future development. The last week has had me stumbling across some wonderful adopts by some talented artists. This fellow though caught my attention right away, as I’ve been looking for a Qilin, a creature of Chinese folklore. Chimeric in nature, they have the parts of many creatures… but you can clearly see the Eastern dragon influences. Scales of a dragon or fish, antlers, hooves, and fur… Qilin combine many traits into one beautiful combination. A close relative is the Japanese Kirin. Unlike my other recent adopts, I have plans for this guy already. :)

In Mandarin, his name is Hǎixiào - this translates to the same word in Japanese and English (English having adopted the Japanese word), and that is Tsunami … a fitting name for a Qilin that loves (and can magically control) water. You’ll be seeing more of Tsunami… I already have a couple of art pieces planned for him. I visualize this art representing Tsunami in his youth - future art may depict him like this (rather cute) or as an adult.
