In summer 2022 I was invited to take part in working on the fan project Cartoon Calendar the idea of which was to create calendars with illustrations involving cartoon animals of the species from the Chinese Zodiac.
As 2023 has two animal symbols, the Cat and the Rabbit, Cartoon Calendar 2023 has become a dual project consisting of two calendars, one dedicated to cats and one to rabbits, all from popular cartoons and animated series.
I was in the Cat calendar team. The character I decided to draw was Pepita from 'Coco', one of my most favorite animated movies of Disney and Pixar, based on the topic of the Mexican holiday Dia de Muertos (Day of the Dead) celebrated the first two days of November. Surely my illustration took the November sheet.
I did my best to draw the family altar from the movie and just improvised with a few elements. For example, I added a couple of painted skulls, as those seemed to be well known accessories of the holiday, which was likely to help even unenlightened people see the connection between the character choice and the month choice.
In this piece Pepita is drawn as an ordinary cat playing with a plush toy looking very similar to her alebrije shape (and I confess that I'm not as good as I'd like to be at drawing regular animals ^^; ).
I also took part in creating trifles like stickers, buttons and magnets. Badly wanted to draw Pepita's monster version, but managed to find time to draw these two heads only ^^' Will do a separate submission with them later.
I hope you like my work as much as I do! I'd say that the main illustration is one of the best things I've created during 2022. One more great thing I've done during the year for another fanzine will be posted later, when the organizers of the event say it's time to~

Btw, I'm sorry for leaving your notes unread for so long. I sometimes leave messages unread for reasons I don't know myself, hoping to reply sometime later when being in a proper mood or something, but eventually I just avoid talking for no clear reason. I guess, it's something about my mental instability.
Please, don't take this personally. You're a nice person and I appreciate your attitude to me a lot. Thank you so much for the kind words in the notes. I honestly feel embarrassed by my unsociability ;__;
