Upon realizing non-patrons cannot interact with public content on Patreon (besides viewing it), I decided to make FA my main gallery for legacy purposes.
This is part of "The Kattanaita Collection" that includes art, gifts and commissions from my time as a furry.

The Kattanaita Collection #6: Go Team Pink!
Circa 2014

I'm not usually the one to care for Steam events, but in 2014, the Steam "Summer Adventure" (their summer sale of that year) provided me with a much-needed break from reality for me. I was taking turns with many other people looking over someone in the hospital. They could not be left alone as they could unplug the machines by accident and not realize it, so someone should always be there with them in case that happened. It was quite rough for everyone involved. There were enough people so that you wouldn't have to spend two nights there in a row, but still you could never get proper rest, and the overall atmosphere of a hospital just brings your spirits down.

They pulled through and were able to go back home. It was quite a relief, though there was the lingering possibility of a relapse, so everyone was still on high alert. I got home so tired that day. I was on night duty and also had to drop by for a few hours in the afternoon, so I was quite beat. My spirits were low. I had not checked my computer for the past couple of days, and though, as expected, there were no personal messages, I was surprised to see the Steam Summer Sale was going on (even though it was a goddamn cold and humid winter there in Brazil).

This was back when they still had unique events every sale season. In this one you were supposed to gather points, most easily by buying stuff, of course, but I seem to think you could also earn points doing other things as well. Upon joining, you were randomly assigned to a color-coded team, and to my surprise I was in the Pink team! It felt like it was meant to be. So I gave it my all to get as many points for my team as I could. It was my purpose, my mission! I was able to get 2022 (ha!) points for the Pink team. We were ahead during most of the competition, but I do believe the Red team was the ultimate winner. It was a fierce competition between the two teams, however. All the other teams were left in the dust!

This was my "rallying the troops" illustration. None of my friends were in the pink team, so it was more for me and all the other random Steam users that I'd never get to meet. I also made a few others during the rest of the event reacting to particular moments, like specific victories and losses, but I'm not sure if I'll post those here. The event took place over the span of 2 weeks, so I had to rush the drawings to get them out on the same day. Because of that they all look a bit off. This one is the better looking one as it was the first one I made, and at that point I thought it would also be the only one I'd make. I ended up making at least 3 more, and perhaps a few other sketches that I did not save anywhere. I feel a bit silly for putting so much energy and emphasis on a silly event that is meant to increase sales of digital games, but for that little moment I felt like I was part of something larger, and it felt like I was making an important contribution, even though deep down I think the results were rigged and predetermined.

So. Go Team Pink! ;)
