Wanting to repair Mangle, Evan gained an interest in robotics, which William helped foster. Evan turned out to be a prodigy, and he not only repaired Mangle, but upgraded her as well. Evan eventually earned a scholarship and in 1996 he was accepted into MIT.
William would go missing shortly after Evan moved out. After going through William's belongings, Michael mails all of his father's designs and research notes to Evan before he too goes missing.
