You can have great success through networking on social media. Also, it is a great source for compensation information. Do not feel shy about messaging employees, telling them about your job search, and asking how much they make or the inside scoop. You will find that folks are rather open to talk about things... just do not talk to managers or the hiring manager!

Hey Edwin, I am a Business management and Marketing graduate wanting to get into Market research. I made a LinkedIn years ago but making it nice now and barely use it much aside for applying, keeping it lowkey. Rarely I express a very educated opinion on market changes. Is this the right thing?
I liked using LinkedIn to follow industry publications that typically charge for subscriptions. It does get exhausting seeing all the buzzword trendy posts though.
There is a never ending mill of recycled trash that gets pushed out every day on LinkedIn. That is one of the annoying things about the platform...
Exactly. As soon as I followed the Forbes page I got invited to a newsletter. Same for Richard Branson. Now they might be providing good information now and then whether I’m checking or not, and usually not about something too particular. However, I won’t lie, now that you guys mention it really, I’m aware like never before how buzzwords can get very unreasonably hard to be in touch with.
