Out of All the Kingdoms in Alderaan, Firefly is the most stunning of them all.
A Kingdom of Alderaan, also referred to as the City of A Thousand Lights. Every night, Fireflies would roam all over the kingdom, bringing light to the Darkest Places. But Firefly didn’t start out as a large kingdom. 800 years Ago, Firefly was just an ordinary castle surrounded by open fields and a Forest to the East. The Kingdoms name from that time is unknown, but it was abandoned after its Last King Died. The castle remained dormant for Two-hundred years, until a loan Prince arrived.
He was known as Darius. Once a Prince to the Kingdom of Duskendale, now an outcast. His Kingdom had been usurped by his own kinsman, who murdered his father and the rest of his family to claim the Throne for their own. Darius managed to escape along with a large company Of Duskendale Citizens and Knights. They traveled for days, but eventually came along a Forest filled with Fireflies. The refugees used the fireflies to travel through the forest until they came to an open field with a abandoned castle on a high hill.
The fireflies surrounded Darius, guiding him to the direction of the castle. When he entered the Great Hall, A Thousand Fireflies lit up the entire castle. Darius took it as a sign that he was meant to be there. When his People entered the castle, Darius Walked up the steps that led to the Throne Room and took up the Castles Throne for his Own. Darius was hailed as “King of the Fireflies” and their newfound kingdom was named after the insects.
With the Fireflies at their aid, the people were able to work even in the night. After a few years, a town had sprouted. A Greenhouse the size of a small Temple was built between the kingdom and the Forest. There caretakers were charged with the care and breeding of Fireflies. The surrounding forest became known as the “Forest of Light” given the thousands of fireflies that lived in its branches.
King Darius led in the construction of the Firefly Kingdom and envisioned a City the likes of which had never been seen. He drew schematics of the kingdom he wanted to built. One day, Firefly was visited by a Noble Woman, Giana. She came from a family of wealth and took an interest in Firefly. When King Darius showed her his plans for the Kingdom, she offered her aid, her families gold and resources. There were also a series of caves just west of the kingdom, filled with mining deposits of clay, stone, iron even silver.
Giana used her families wealth to buy wood and other necessary components and overtime, she and Darius became close. Eventually, Darius asked for Gianas hand in marriage and she became his wife and queen. Darius was married at age 20, for they were a year part from one another.
Over the next 13 years, Firefly grew faster than anticipated. The city expanded further to the south-west. Additions to the castle were added as well. A Garrison was a built for the Knights and the city guard and a Cathedral, both connected to the castle.
One day King Darius sent a messenger to Duskendale, delivering a letter to the False King Derick, the Prince who murdered his brothers and stole his fathers throne. Derick replied that he would take his brothers head. King Darius assembled his men and mustered his troops along the Eastern edge of the Forest of Light. When the forces of Duskendale arrived, the Firefly knights charged. They took the enemy under the cover of night completely by surprise. King Darius and his brother Derick Clashed, but Derick fell quickly.
When the battle was over, Darius stood before his brother who was on his knees in defeat. “You don’t deserve the Throne.” Derick said. “Neither do you.” Darius told his brother before he cut off his head. After Derick was slain and his army defeated, Kings Darius marched his Royal Army to Duskendale where he freed all the captive citizens and emptied the Duskendale treasury. Any corpses that were rotting in the streets were given a proper burial. Darius then ordered Duskendale to be burned to the ground so that he may never be tempted to return.
After he returned to Firefly, Darius melted his and his fathers crown together, forging a new Crown to symbolize his rule as the King of Firefly. As years went by, Firefly became a city of wonder. Homes grew taller and taller, roads were paved with stone and brick And all the while the city became brighter as more fireflies covered the city. An even larger Cathedral was built in the cities center and glass lamps were crafted to house fireflies and designed so the insects could come and go. King Darius saw his Vision of the Kingdom finally complete at the age of 87. He passed away about Two Years later. He went peacefully while watching over the city from his balcony.
Like many of the other kingdoms, Firefly made a truce with the Order of Masquerade. One of their Noble Warriors was assigned to the city to watch over and guard it. Overtime, Firefly became known as the “City of a Thousand Lights”. And it was called that over the next 600 Years.
