What was it Albert Einstein said? "Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results." Yeah, that sounds about right... To me, though, Insanity means home. It means family, it means nostalgia for where I grew up.
Insanity, a small town outside of Washington with nothing going for it other than a decaying Psychiatric Hospital, it"s nothing special to many people. Still, to me- it"s the one place I feel at ease. There isn"t a reason to be scared. Most people leave their doors unlocked, like in one of those old country towns where everyone knows everyone.
I"d shake my head, smiling as I walked through the underpass, my tail swaying in opposite directions with each step, my eyes facing forward as I descended into the darkened area... Only a few more streets until I get home. Coming back here always helps me clear my head- Thinking of all my friends and how we used to hang out before we moved for college - this is the only place that feels... Right?
The sound of a car driving down the opposite side- its bright headlights flicking on automatically scares me, making my heart race as I nearly stumble. "Hecc," I mutter, shaking my head while making the ascent on the opposite side. I lift my head to the sky and smile, focusing on a set of falling leaves, watching them drift to the ground.
"Nice day for a walk, isn"t it?" An unfamiliar, burly voice called said, startling me for a second time, the hair on my tail standing up straight.
I"d turn to face the voice, coming face to face with a nearly pure black wolf, his stoic face that isn"t easily forgettable. "Yeah, just got back into town for a few days." I"d say softly, looking over the wolf who stood easily a head taller than me. His frame was built almost like that of a bodybuilder.
"Fair enough, just stay safe- some activity lately has been stirring the town." He"d respond, giving a toothy grin.
"Thanks? What"s your name? You aren"t from around here?" I"d ask as I shuffled back a few steps, not letting my back turn to the new face.
"Oh, where are my manners. I"m special detective Riley, hired by the FBI for a case around these parts." He"d respond before looking behind himself- his tail shaking slowly.
Not even a moment later, I"d hear soft footsteps... But Taking the opportunity, I"d quickly move, my ears pinning down as I rounded the corner to my mom and dad"s house- rushing to the door as I spotted Aivis turning down the street. He"d raise his hand in greeting while continuing down the road, his meek form the same as it was in school. I can"t help but smile again, chuffing as my heart calms and I ready myself to see my parents... "Hey, I"m home!"
I wonder if we should expect different results truly, in this town...
