"You're ridiculous." He says cooly.
There's a sharp inhale from the white-haired man. "I'll eat you alive." Shin replies, half-lidded eyes staring straight ahead. "I'm serious," he continues. "I'll rend your bones and mangle your flesh and, I'll devour your heart whole."
Sasuke lifts his head, but his expression is the same unchanging neutrality. Ruby red irises focused on Shin, tomoe lazily swirling as he takes in every bit of detail from the man in front of him. "I'm inclined to believe that."
Sasuke's face betrays none of his emotion; enthralled, intrigued, excited even. All their time as rivals, he's never gotten this close to Shin. That feral enigma who insists he's animal, not man. Though the hair on his back bristles, he can't help but admit being this close to someone so dangerous is exciting. Someone he's wanted to be close to for what feels like time immortal.
Sasuke doesn't know what to make of these feelings. He's supposed to be irritated, unimpressed, to find Shin and his antics hilarious in a pathetic sort of way. But somehow it'sendearingand Sasuke doesn't like that but he likes the warmth of Shin and he likes his eternally half-lidded, bored eyes and his intelligent wit and biting sarcasm.
He thinks he hates Shin. There is no other explanation. But also hatred is simpler than any other emotion. He has felt hatred many times in his life - simple, unyielding, straightforward a path. But he knows deep down the emotions stirring in his core when he sees Shin aren't hatred nor are they simple. And it frustrates him. Affection is beneath him.
Why, then, is he hugging Shin? Taking in his scent - he knows his own olfaction will never be as detailed and intense as Shin's - and memorising the way his muscles tense up the closer Sasuke gets. He is small and ferocious, scars all over, bristly and difficult to read. He should want to kill Shin, drive his chokutō through his heart for even daring to threaten him. And somehow he won't.
Shin's eyes have been on Sasuke this whole time. Side-eyeing, ears attuned to every sigh and deep inhale Sasuke takes. He isn't sure how to feel about all this either.
