Curiously, Sephtis stepped into the bright blue circle... And to her surprise, nothing seemed to happen.
She began to walk back outside of the circle when suddenly, she heard a loud splashing behind her! Before she could turn around, something grabbed her and pulled her into the water!
...Wait, water?
Sure enough, the magic circle Sephtis had just been standing on was now a strange, glowing pond; one she was rapidly sinking into! She felt herself held in place by something for a long moment; in spite of her struggles to break free, to swim to the surface, to breathe, to...
..Wait. Actually, she didn't seem to be having any trouble breathing anymore. And whatever was holding her in place was gone!
...No, that wasn't right. She knew it. Whatever it was... it wasn't gone at all... It was HERE. All around her. Or more accurately, it WAS her!!!
Sephtis was trying to piece together what happened, looking around the clear body of water before swimming back to the surface with surprising ease. Splashing back onto land and dripping water, she took a couple of steps before looking down at herself with surprise. Suddenly, she finally understood. It was a kappa demon that had pulled her into the water. And when she was pulled in, she merged together with it. And before she knew it, she had BECOME that kappa!
Well, at least she'd managed to hold onto her ribbon.

Okay, so a quick random shoutout on this one. Drawing a believable, expressive beak is a surprisingly interesting challenge. For inspiration on how to do it well, I studied ReagentNein at DeviantArt and their incredible work on a torchic character for their excellent PMD comic, Milos From Home. give it a look sometime; you won't regret it!
Anyway, this is a commission for
