Very much reminds me of a Star Citizen ship. Though, that is not a good space game to play. Yet. More like a good proof of concept so far. ^^

What looks like a big underslung gunpod makes me think Project Sylpheed ships. That old 360 game had fighter with big rail cannons and missile pod under the center body of the craft.
Someone else who remembers Project Sylpheed! My fav game :P This did sadly end up looking a bit like the Macross Valkyrie.

As for space games to play, sadly there aren't many good ones around anymore, or at least I don't know many new ones.
The only one I hear people play nowadays seems to be Elite Dangerous.

Sadly not. I only got into the PC side of gaming much later. I was playing Colony Wars on the PS1. That was my jam. But my all time fav. game is Project Sylpheed on the 360. Also Call of Duty Infinite Warfare single player campaign is so good.

Oh yeah, got that one. I liked the movements and was pretty. Still doesnt come close to Project Sylpheed. What ticks my boxes - Being part of a team, not a lone fighter / character wears a helmet in space / ability to lock-on to many enemies at once (like in Macross) / fast paced flight /

You might sign on to Elite: Dangerous. They got an org called Fuel Rats. They are white hats, helping anyone who runs out of fuel. They are well-organized, runs in IRC predominantly, and is a tight-knit family.
