Pumparum is an abnormally fat vrock demon that has been adopted by Ionatrix as her loyal pet. He is quiet and slow to rouse unless there is food on the line. Pumparum's best friend is Picklepee, an abnormally tall and thin vrock. They have been friends long before meeting Ionatrix, which is particularly unusual because vrocks are normally opportunists that don't form meaningful relationships.
Pumparum is an anomaly as far as vrock go. His only major concern is his where his next meal is coming from, and he is more likely to beg and whinte than attack and steal. He doesn't particularly seem to enjoy violence, depending on Picklepee to bring him food before meeting Ionatrix.
The Tale of Ionatrix [3/4]
[Previous]
In the aftermath of their battle, a skulking gnoll brought Ionatrix et al to his leader, Hyena Prince Najano. They met and discussed the situation. Nocticula had dragged the island down to her plane of the abyss, and her attempt to 'redeem' it would doom the populace. They needed to convince her to change her tact, and the only way they saw fit would be to put on a play for her - The King in Yellow. The tragedy would surely change her mind, or so the paladin insisted, if only a deathsnatcher hadn't stolen the manuscript.
Ionatrix and her team were attacked by yellow cultists shortly after questioning Picklepee. Knowing of the yellow sign, Ionatrix was fearful of attacking the cultists, lest she trip the yellow sign. In the heat of battle, Picklepee flung himself at one of the cultists to defend Ionatrix and vanished with an unsettling pop.
After a grueling battle, the yellow cultists split up and fled, taking multiple routes to prevent being followed. Holden managed to enchant one of the cultists, a ratfolk named Samson, infatuating him with Ionatrix. Samson entreated the Ionatrix to come to his manor to meet his other mommies
They found the manor eerily silent until a small army of buxom bodaks began to pour from the rooms of the manor - his mommies had fallen victim to the deathsnatcher's touch. Then the deathsnatcher herself made an appearance, demanding Samson.
Ionatrix refused, but the beast was too much for the group to handle, and Samson used himself as bait to draw the creature off. After a begrudging rest, the group searched for Samson and found a hidden chamber deep underground where a mad yellow pianist was feverishly playing to draw an unsettling yellow god through into this realm.
The paladin stood alongside them, watching their god pulled into this realm. Samson lay dead, having been turned into a bodak and slain by his kinsmen. Through a grueling battle, the heroes managed to lay the cultists low, smash the piano, and force the god back through the portal. The paladin put up a grisly fight, seemingly atomizing Holden before being defeated.
After throwing the corrupt paladin at Najano's feet, the party decided to make their way towards the docks where they'd heard an airship was moored. On their way the party was accosted by a startlingly fat vrock that approached them with something akin to curiosity. It seemed hungry, more concerned with filling its belly than sating its lust for violence. Ionatrix, eager to nurture a fellow fiend's non-violent tendancies offered the plump bird a homemade meal from her bento.
Pumparum, as they would come to know him, lamented that friend picklepee wasn't here, he usually brought food for the larger bird. Ionatrix, feeling guilty, deigned to take care of the large fiend in his friend's place, sitting with him while the rest of the party parleyed with the airship crew and made plans to assault Nocticula's castle...
