Meet the Pokémon Stomp Squad! A gang of seven Pokémon explorers who search for treasure that often involves using not only their heads, but their feet (or hooves) as well. For them, the best solution to a problem or the best way to achieve a goal is one good stomp! But what happens when they stomp too hard? Or stomp at the wrong place at the wrong time? There's only one way to find out!
(Also, expect plenty of sound effects to enrich the experience in an ASMR-like way through onomatopoeia.)
Up high on a mysterious, misty mountain top, a group of Pokémon were making their way to a specific location for a specific purpose. They were the Pokémon Stomp Squad; a group of explorers and treasure hunters all united by a common goal, and a common theme. Each had their own role to play in the squad, with talents and abilities in the realm of the mental and the physical.
In this adventure, the Stomp Squad was headed to a locale that was said to have been carved right into the mountain. When they arrived, it was revealed to be true. Indeed the top part of the mountain had been dug into and out, creating a large cone sized alcove 40 feet high. Essentially, the top of the mountain had been partially hollowed out.
There were several images of Pokémon raising their feet or paws up high carved into the stone, along with much ancient writing. However, the most interesting detail was the strange archaic symbol carved into the ground right in the center of the alcove. It was the sight of this symbol that got the group excited.
The group stepped forward, a proud looking Lucario in a tan hood and cloak named Blackfoot. He took out a rubbing he'd taken from a different ruin related to this locale, which held an inscription which read in regards to this place, "A worthy rub and a decisive stomp upon the Wishing Spot will grant a wish beyond the wildest of dreams."
Blackfoot was confident as he rolled up the parchment and stored it away in a pocket in his cloak. The group had already decided earlier on the order of who would try to get a wish from the symbol. Naturally, the leader would go first.
The Lucario stepped over to the symbol, which looked to be 18 lines criss crossed over a Venn diagram made up of 18 circles. It was about 3 feet by 3 feet in size. Blackfoot took mental note of all this briefly, and then he raised his right footpaw and pressed it down onto the center of the symbol. His smooth, dark bare skin pressed down onto the stone and into the grooves carved into the rock. His three pink toe pads gripped what was underneath them as Blackfoot rubbed the symbol with his footpaw.
Scritch-scritch-scritch-scritch!
Then, he raised his leg and gave the symbol a good stomp.
Thump!
Blackfoot's ears perked up, and his eyes moved back and forth for any sign that something had happened or was going to happen. However, after several seconds of nothing, the Lucario frowned in disappointment and stepped off of the symbol to give the next one in line a chance.
The next member of the Stomp Squad happened to be Blackfoot's mate, a Braixen named Tippytoe. The pair shared a quick tender nuzzle, and then Blackfoot stepped aside to let Tippytoe past.
The Braixen approached the symbol, her nose sniffing down at it curiously as she adjusted her red cat eye glasses with her left paw. She then spun around effortlessly and dusted the symbol with her tail. Then, she twirled around again and stepped onto the symbol with her tiny right footpaw.
Tippytoe's black footpaw pressed down flat on the ground, no toe pads or central pads between the paw and the ground, only a thin layer of smooth, velvety black fur. Tippytoe took a deep breath and swiftly rubbed moved her footpaw forward and backward several times.
Scuff-scuff-scuff-scuff-scuff-scuff!
The Braixen then quickly lifted up her paw and stomped it.
Pomp!
Tippytoe lifted her head up and looked around excitedly, but the smile she had on quickly faded when nothing at all happened. Now pouted miserably, Tippytoe left the symbol for the next one.
Next was a ninja eye mask wearing Midnight Lycanroc named Softstep, who noiselessly moved towards the symbol. The black bands he wore around his forearms, wrists, and ankles gave him an air of mystery to him, as well as stealth.
Softstep dropped down to all fours when he got to the symbol, melting down like liquid. He literally pressed his nose down onto it in order to sniff it properly. Then, he rose back up onto his feet and slid his right foot onto the symbol.
Softstep's foot took up a lot of space, the thick white fur on it hugging and embracing what he was standing on. The actual skin on his foot never touched anything, only the fur covering it. However, his claws did come in contact with the symbol as he rubbed it with his foot.
Scratch-scratch-scratch-scratch!
Softstep then lifted his foot and spread out his claws to make it as big and wide as he could, and then stomped three times.
Puff! Puff! Puff!
The Midnight Lycanroc huffed when nothing happened, and swiftly turned and walked away from the symbol and back to the group.
A Cinderace named Hothop waited for Softstep to walk by. Once the way was clear, the Cinderace looked around nervously, nose constantly twitching. The timid bunny held his paw close to his chest as he bunny-hopped forward towards the symbol, as he had always lacked the ability to walk or run normally all his life since the day he hatched and thus could only move by hopping like this.
Hothop bounced his way onto the symbol, and her squatted down slightly as he pretty much gripped the ground with his feet. The three dots on his foot pads heated up as they were pressed onto the ground, his big red soft and squishy toes rubbing themselves onto the stone floor.
Still squaring, Hothop wiggled his tail and shook his hips, which in turn moved his legs and caused his feet to twist onto the symbol.
Shift! Shift! Shift!
Then the Cinderace used the potential energy stored in his bent legs to spring upwards and come back down hard with both feet.
SLAP!
Hothop straightened up real fast right after landing, the sound of the slap of his feet echoing throughout both the alcove and his ears. He looked around trembling, then slowly relaxed as his eyes drifted down to his bouncy feet. He bent over and carefully poked at each of his big red toes. Frowning when he felt no difference, Hothop straightened back up and hopped away from the symbol.
Rubberpaw, a rather squirrelly and twitchy Umbreon with a red scarf around his neck, scampered over to the symbol and quickly reached out with his right forepaw. His paw was small and tender, yet slightly spongy in its fur covered toes.
Rubberpaw's eyes twitched and his pupils shrank as he rubbed at the exact center of the symbol.
Squeak-squeak-squeak-squeak-squeak!
The Umbreon then quickly raised his paw and smacked it back down hard.
Smack!
Rubberpaw sniffed once and immediately retreated to allow his sister to get a chance. She was a jewelry wearing Espeon named Kittypaws, decked out in silver amulets on all four legs, a silver chocked-style collar and an eye-shaped necklace.
Kittypaws elegantly leapt over the symbol, then posed with her head up high and eyes closed, her tail up and her hind right leg kicked up over the center of the symbol.
Kittypaws' tiny dainty little paw seemed to sparkle as it came down on the symbol. It squished and deformed like a little pink marshmallow as it was pressed down on the symbol. Kittypaws flicked her forked tail as she rubbed her right hind paw on the symbol.
Sparkle-sparkle-sparkle!
The Espeon then raised her paw and stomped it.
Ding!
Kittypaws opened her eyes in shock, then turned to look at her back half. She frowned in disappointment, then turned and walked away from the symbol with her nose up in the air.
The vain Espeon maintained her poise even as the odd Zebstrika named Hoofy sniffed the ground while crawling on his belly, his snout dragging across the ground.
When Hoofy's big nostrils reached the center of the symbol, his eyes out up, and he lifted his head so he could lick the underside of his left forehoof. His tongue actually got stuck to the underside of the hoof due to the constant electrostatic charge running through. Hoofy pulled his head and leg away from each other until his tongue finally snapped off of the bottom of his hoof.
Sparks popped out of Hoofy's tongue as it hung lolling out of his mouth. Then he slurped it back in and looked at his left forehoof. The bottom of the nearly circular keratin hoof was flat and smooth, not to mention wet from his saliva. Said moisture was also charged up by the Zebstrika's electricity. Some arcs of electricity raced across the soft frog of his hoof within the keratin nail.
Hoofy then slapped his hoof down and the symbol and rubbed swiftly.
Ur-ur-ur-ur-ur-ur-ur!
Hoofy lifted his hoof back up, and he saw an arc of electricity jump from the bottom of his hoof down to the ground. Delight overtook his face as he painted excitedly like a dog. Then he jumped up onto all four hooves, standing tall as he raised his left forehoof up high and stomped the symbol hard.
Clop!
Hoofy's expression became that of confusion when nothing happened. Looking down, the Zebstrika stomped the symbol three more time with alternating forehooves.
Clip-clop-clip!
Hoofy blew through his equine lips and stomped his left forehoof down again, putting all his weight on it in an attempt to screw it into the stone ground.
Clop! Skrrt-skrrt-skrrrrt!
Hoofy whinnied in annoyance and jumped up and down forcefully on top of the symbol three times.
Clip! Clop! Clip!
In one final burst of frustration, the Zebstrika bent his knees and jumped up a bit higher, brought all four hooves close together and pointed his rooftops downward. He came down like a top, the wedge shape of his four silver hooves put together coming down right into the exact center of the symbol.
CRACK! Creeeeeaaaaaaaak!
Hoofy’s left ear flicked upward in response to the loud creaking sound, and then blinked when he felt his hooves and legs sink down into the ground up to his fetlocks. Immediately after, a big, jagged crack appeared right at where his hooves had pierced the carved symbol. The crack quickly grew and shot out ahead of him and snaked into the massive alcove towards the inside of the hollowed out mountain top. The crack reached the base of the wall and then moved upwards, weaving left and right as it cut its way through the stone.
Back with the main group, Tippytoe whimpered dejectedly as she adjusted her glasses in distress. It greatly upset the poor Braixen to see the ornate carvings of Pokemon being damaged by the crack. Nearby, Hothop was plugging his ears and trembling, as the loud cracking noise was upsetting the Scorbunny.
Amazingly, the crack moved very fast up and around the inside of the hollow mountain. Before they all knew, the crack had reached the very top of the 40 foot tall mountain top.
POP!
The very tip top of the mountain popped right off and shot straight up into the air. Then, with a loud groan, the 40 foot tall mountain top began to tremble violently. Horizontal cracks began to form, further breaking up what Hoofy’s crack had already broken up. The entire mass of stone visibly broke into pieces and got more and more loose as the whole thing vibrated.
The poor Zebstrika looked up at the perilous stones above him, very much aware that many of the pieces were twice his size. Hoofy blinked one and gulped loudly.
Then, the entire Jenga tower of stones began to lean in the direction of the Pokemon, causing a massive shadow to loom over them. This was enough to spur the entire Squad to turn and run (or hop) for their lives. All except for one.
A loud, terrified bray caused six of the members to stop in their tracks and turn around. They then all realized that Hoofy was still stuck in the ground. Fiercely loyal to their friend, dimwitted Squad Mascot he might be, the six of them all rushed to his aid.
Blackfoot and Softstep got to him first, and they both grabbed two of his legs and pulled upwards, only to gain panicked expressions when they realized that the Zebstrika’s legs and hooves were wedged deep and tight into the rock underneath. Rubberpaw and Kittypaws came next, and the Umbreon slid underneath Hoofy’s chest and pushed up with his head to try and jack Hoofy up while the Espeon used Psychic to grab his tail and pull.
Blackfoot called out for the remaining two to help, and Hothop and Tippytoe came in to grab and pull Hoofy’s left and right hindlegs respectively.
Hoofy glanced up at the teetering rock tower, and desperately encouraged his friends to move faster.
Kittypaws reared up on her hind legs as she put all her focus on pulling Hoofy’s tail with Psychic. She raised both her forelegs high, and then she lifted her right hind leg and curled the toes on her hindpaw in order to focus more on pulling. Combined with a strong tug from Hothop and Tippytoe, Hoofy’s hind legs were pulled up out of the tight hole.
Hoofy gasped and kicked his hind legs, stretching them out. Then he looked back up at the approaching rockslide and screamed. He planted his back hooves and began to tug his forelegs hard, assisted by Blackfoot, Softstep, and Rubberpaw. Hoofy grunted as tugged with all his might, until finally his forelegs popped right out so suddenly that both he and his three rescuers went flying backwards and crashed into Hothop, Tippytoe, and Kittypaws.
The seven of them all tumbled backward onto the ground. Hoofy was the first one to look up and scream, and the rest were all quick to join in.
The Stomp Squad was all back up on their feet in a flash, and they all turned and fled from the falling massive shards of rock that smashed into the ground mere feet behind them. Hothop screamed as he felt bits of rock belt his back as the shards shattered on the ground at his heels. Unable to run and forced to only hop, the Cinderace focused on his Fire-type power and heated up the pads on his feet.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Small fiery explosions erupted from beneath his feet as he propelled himself forward with massive hops that allowed him to make good distance from the falling debris.
Tippytoe, meanwhile, was crying in fear as she pushed herself to move faster, but to no avail. Three huge rock spikes slammed into the ground right behind her tail, tripping her up and making her flail her arms and scream. Luckily, her mate heard her, and he didn’t hesitate to come to her rescue. Blackfoot fell back and reached behind him, grabbing the Braixen by the paw and hoisting her up onto his shoulders. As he ran while carrying her, Blackfoot couldn’t help but notice Tippytoe’s black legs hanging in front of him. Unable to resist, he smiled and tenderly poked the centers of her footpaws, eliciting a cute giggle from her.
Rubberpaw and Kittypaws were also having trouble keeping up, but the Midnight Lycanroc noticed and made use of his extra long arms. Softstep fell back so that he was in between them, and then reached out with his paws, snagging the Eeveelution siblings by opposite hind legs.
As the group ran (or hopped) away from the loud smashing of the countless tons of falling stones, they all beheld in horror that they were running towards a large, towering carved outcrop of rock that acted as a massive wall in their way. It resembled an obelisk, or some type of tall oblong pillar, possibly related to the carved alcove and Wishing Spot. However, this doom was dispelled when their leader Blackfoot called out an order. Everyone immediately knew what they needed to do.
Once they judged that they were all close enough to the rock blocking their way, everyone who could jump immediately jumped.
Tippytoe held on tight as Blackfoot flipped and extended his right leg in a powerful Blaze Kick. His foot flew right into the rock and struck it dead center.
BOOM!
Hothop sprang up and rolled into a ball, before unrolling and flying towards the rock with both legs bent. At a spot above Blackfoot and Tippytoe, he then struck the rock twice with a strong Double Kick.
POW-POW!
Softstep’s head was lowered and his eyes were narrowed behind his ninja mask, and the two Eeveelutions hanging from their hindpaws still tightly gripped in the Midnight Lycanroc’s forepaws were screaming as Softstep leapt up into the air and threw himself towards the massive stone slab. Softstep swung his right leg back in midair and swung it hard to strike the stone with a Mega Kick.
THUD!
Those three Pokemon all hit the stone tower at once, their feet sticking to the side of the rock due to the force of their impact. This gave Hoofy a chance to dash over to the base of the tower. Panting heavily, the Zebstrika threw himself forward onto his forelegs and walked forward a few steps before flipping forward completely, thrusting his rear hooves ahead of him to use Stomp on the base of the tower while physically upside down.
CLOP!
The towering rock teetered slightly, and then a massive boulder slammed onto the ground a centimeter away from Hoofy’s snout. The Zebstrika’s eyes bulged as he desperately pushed his rear hooves against the pillar. With great effort, the pillar fell over completely, taking the entire Stomp Squad with it.
The massive pillar slab went over the side and slid down the mountainside like a sled. Tippytoe jumped off of Blackfoot, and Softstep let go of Rubberpaw and Kittypaws. Hoofy sat up on his haunches and cheered, and the rest of the group joined him as they rode the jumbo sized stone sled down the mountain.
But then, the slap struck a massive rock sticking out of the mountain, which caused the pillar to flip upwards and catapult everyone off of the mountain.
Far down at the base of the mountain, the frightened cries of the Stomp Squad could be heard as they fell downwards.
Blackfoot held his arms out as his cloak flapped in the air, and he landed solidly on both feet.
THUMP!
The Lucario stood shakily on his toes, his body tense up from the landing. He then carefully lifted his left foot and wiggled his toes, satisfied when the digits appeared no worse for wear.
Tippytoes screams reached a fever pitch as she came down on her footpaws at a slight angle and slid a few inches to an abrupt halt.
Scuuuuuffff-scuff-scuff!
The Braixen hopped painfully from foot to foot, fretting and crying out in discomfort. She then turned around to look tearfully at her mate, and she lifted her right footpaw to show it to him. Blackfoot ginergly took the scuffed paw in his own paws, then tenderly patted it and smiled when he saw that it wasn’t badly injured. This was reassuring enough to calm Tippytoes down.
Immediately after, Softstep came down fast in a smooth kicking position, his right foot colliding soundly with the ground.
THUD!
Softstep stood blanched on his right leg for a moment, his right foot in a deep print made by his epic downward kick. Then, he put his left foot down and calmly stepped out of the footprint. The Midnight Lycanroc looked at the impression his clawed foot made in the ground and cracked a small smile in pride.
Hothop could be heard screaming as he fell, and both feet struck the ground simultaneously.
SLAP!
Hothop cried out again as he rebounded off of his own feet and flipped over once before landing back on his feet again. His eyes were closed the entire time, and when he no longer could feel himself falling, he opened his eyes and looked about. When he knew he was safe on the ground, he laughed with delight and then bent over to kiss the tops of his feet.
Then, in a black downward streak, Rubberpaws fell straight down like a stone and landed on all fours.
SMACK!
The Umbreon gasped out loud as all four of his legs bent down all the way to the point that his chest nearly touched the ground. Then, his legs all suddenly rebounded and he popped back up to his normal height and standing position. His eyes were wide and his jaw was hanging open, but all in all he was okay.
Soft screaming could be heard, and then Kittypaws landed as well. However, a flash of Psychic energy slowed her down right as she landed daintily on her front left paw.
Ding!
The Espeon was perfectly balanced in an upside down pose on that single forepaw, her hind legs sprayed out and her tail up high. She then elegantly jumped off of her forepaw and landed effortlessly on her hind legs with perfect grace before finally settling back down on all fours.
Rubberpaws just stared incredulously at his sister, while Tippytoes pouted and put her hands on her hips irately. Blackfoot just rolled his eyes and smiled.
However, as if somehow not wanting to be out down, Hoofy came down like a javelin, landing right on his rear left leg hard enough to stab his hoof down into the dirt.
THUNK!
The Zebstrika stood in a unique ballet-like pose, “balanced” on his rear left leg with his rear hind leg curled up so his hoof pointed upwards. His forelegs were in a position not unlike the arms of a pirouette ballet dancer.
The rest of the Stomp Squad stared at the panting Zebstrika in confusion and morbid fascination for a good minute before Hoofy regained his senses enough to come out of his pose. He fell forward back onto all fours, then turned to look at his rear left hoof, which was stuck in the dirt. He gave it a couple of tugs, and the hoof came out rather easily.
After this, the Pokemon all shared some disappointed looks. It appeared this expedition had been nothing but a colossal failure.
Suddenly, something struck Blackfoot on the head.
CLUNK!
The Lucario shook his head to get over the dizziness from being struck, and he looked down and saw that what had hit him was a large hexagonal stone with intricate carvings on it. Blackfoot immediately recalled finding ancient records about this very object not too long ago, and he realized that this was the keystone to the door of an ancient underground city filled with riches. He gasped and immediately snatched up the stone, hugging it close as he reasoned that the stone was either hidden in the pillar they had slid down the mountain on or in the now shattered mountain top. Either way, it was theirs now.
Blackfloot looked to his friends, who all could easily tell that a new adventure was ahead of them based on how he was acting. The group was all smiles and optimism once again. So, as the leader of the Pokemon Stomp Squad, Blackfoot turned, stowed the keystone in his cloak, and took a confident step while putting his best foot forward.
BOOM!
The others all gasped as a massive boulder landed right on top of Blackfoot. His right leg was sticking out, leaving only his pink toe padded black foot exposed to the air. His toes clenched and unclenched repeatedly as the rest of him lay under the boulder.
BOOM!
Another rock landed on Tippytoes, leaving only her right leg visible, which could only twitch as it stuck out from beneath the boulder.
Softstep gulped and quickly covered his head with his long arms.
BOOM!
Another boulder fell and landed on him, leaving only his right leg visible. He brought his leg down hard and dug at the ground with his long footclaws, scratching deep grooves into the dirt.
Hothop screamed and turned to hop away.
BOOM!
A boulder landed on him, leaving both of his legs exposed. He kicked out his feet, which both immediately caught fire.
Rubberpaw and Kittypaws both turned to look at each other in fear, and they both leapt towards each other for some semblance of safety.
BOOM!
Two boulders fell down at once, landing on them both. Rubberpaw’s right foreleg and Kittypaws’ left foreleg were free, and they were both able to reach out and touch each other’s paw.
This left Hoofy all on his own, a fearful look on his face anda twitch in his eye. Then, a shadow fell over him, causing him to scream and shut his eyes.
Clunk!
The small rock shattered when it struck the Zebstrika's horns, and he opened his eyes and gained a look of relief when he realized that he didn’t get crushed. However, that look of relief faded when he realized that now it was up to him to get the extremely heavy boulders off of his friends.
Sighing, Hoofy cracked his neck, took a few hoofstes in place, and then proceeded to get to work.
