I came up with a great worldbuilding idea and replaced every human on Earth with dragons. This right here is a German Forest Dragon Stormtrooper. (Sturmmann)
In the final years of World War 1 the Stormtroopers were elite units of soldiers handpicked from the best armies and were used for counter attacks. The Kaiserschlacht offensive saw many of these brave units storming and overrunning the British trenches.
Now for the worldbuilding.
Magic during the Roman and Dark Ages was primarily seen for healing in places of worship. Usually it were the clergy and scholars who studied the ancient power sometimes even nobility. Groups and empires known to harness magic, Roman Empire, Ancient Egyptians, France, Italy, Germany, Byzantine Empire. It was under order of Rudolf I that magic be banned after a terrifying incident that claimed many lives inside a big city when a cathedral burst into navy blue sparkling flames, the blast set the entire city aflame and everything around it, this is when dragons started questioning if magic really is worth the risk to use. While magic was outlawed in Europe, Middle Eastern and Eastern Dragons continued their use of nature and healing spells which was widely frowned upon by the West, so in response the Europeans started crusades on Jerusalem and the Holy Land. In 1914 dragons around this time felt that magic had been banned for too long and seeing how the U.S profited off magic they wanted some of the riches. Until in Sarajevo, Austria-Hungary the Arch Duke was assassinated by a pro-magic radicalist and when the chain reactions of war declarations happened, Germany, in an effort to defeat France started using magic. (Now considered a war crime).
It wasn't uncommon to see soldiers being flung around the trench by dragons using telekinesis.
