Hey everyone! Did you know I've been working on a second game project? Well I have. It's a side-scrolling shoot-em-up featuring my novice superheroine, Quantum Knight, and you can download and play the first level of it (No bossfight yet. That's the next thing on the agenda) right now:
Download: https://mega.nz/file/rw9VyKgK#nxhPx.....xMtvmPBQInT744
In addition, I want to announce that I am launching a second Patreon page for this project. Up until now progress for this one has been tracked on the same page as Texas in Trouble, but the plan has always been to split this project off into its own page once it's capable of standing on its own. Which it now is! So if you like this project and want to support it instead of (or in addition to) the Texas project, you can do so right here (It's cheaper):
Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/SquashedFlatSecondary
This project has taken far longer than I expected it too at the start. This was going to be a smaller, secondary project, only being worked on two days of the week rather than three, and somewhat spiralled out from there. With all the groundwork and systems laid I'm still fairly confident that updates will be more frequent on this than on Texas in Trouble, though it's definitely the simpler of the two games. It also comes with the ability to toggle gas/fart content on and off, so check out the options screen for that!
Controls:
Arrow Keys: Movement
X: Select/Shield
Z: Back/Shoot
C: Special Attack
As always, let me know if there are any issues! I'm *fairly* confident in the stability of this, but there's always things I don't catch. For now, I hope you all enjoy the new project and look fondly towards what is to come!

Ok this is relly fun so far with a few fun game overs already..Looking forward to more
Thank you! Next up is the first boss: A huge brontosaurus superhero.
Thank you ^^ I appreciate there's not much there right now, but I'm very glad you enjoyed what there was!
This is a lovely evening~
Adding another Patreon to the list tonight!

Whelp, that first taste was a blast! That blade dash is alot of fun to use. Timing it to hit the most enemies and such.
Also, the lovely little bit of comedy if you miss the catch on Clarissa is gold! Totally sets the mood for a light hearted game.
Very promising~

Thank you! I'm glad you got some use out of the Chivalric Charge (as she calls it). I found when I was testing it that I almost never did. And yes, that little miss sequence was very enjoyable to put together.
I've got to say I wasn't expecting a bullet hell, but I'm a sucker for horses.
The option to continue or accept game over after each stock is a nice addition.
This is a nice demo.

This is a nice demo.
Thanks! I mostly went for the shmup format because it's easy, and I liked the idea of crash-landing a lot. My friend Mataku actually came up with the original suggestion, and I really liked it!
Transformation??! Ooooooo can I get a Lil idea what kinda transformation?~ owo
In this instance it's someone getting TF'd into someone else's ass, but there'll be plenty more as the game goes on. Mostly underwear/clothing TF and such.
So does this mean that texas in Trouble is done and gonna come out fully soon?
It's getting closer, but no. I was working on Texas three days a week, then left my job and started doing this project the other two days a week. Now this project has finally gotten far enough that I can release something!
It looks awesome, but I do have a question. For it being a demo, can we change the setting to turn on gas or is it automatically off for this stage?
👍🏾 thanks for the help. And note: the level 1 demo seems pretty fire, can't wait for the other levels to come out!
Thanks! I think she's definitely my cutest/most innocent hero.
Very interesting so far. One thing I noticed is that the shot frequency of the shotgun pig wildly fluctuates, sometimes getting 2-3 shots off in rapid succession, not sure if that is intended.
I also think it's intriguing how she turns vertical both when shielding and backing off, never seen a 2D side scrolling shooter where your action determines your hitbox. I feel like this could be used very well to create scenarios where either dodging or shielding is preferred, or you shield in order TO dodge.

Hmmm, that shouldn't be happening... The pigs should fire intermittently, as they won't shoot if you're shooting at them, but they should need to complete their shotgun pump before firing again.
And yeah, wasn't sure how that'd work, but it kinda does? I'll need to play around with that horizontal/vertical aspect in future levels. Thanks!

I can't seem to replicate it, but maybe if they shoot and you fire a single bullet back, the instant of them being in cover skips the reload animation? It's pretty rare, so not a big deal honestly.
Also, am I correct in that the small enemies only have a single fetish animation each this time, which triggers when they bring you down with them? I feel like that is a good change compared to Texas in Trouble, each foe having their own Game Over gives them more personality and depth, and not having like 6 animations per enemy should also speed up the progress a lot.

That's possible. I'll have to look into it.
And they do, yes. It does mean (potentially) faster development, but also less fetish content overall.

May i add something? For some reasons i once had a run where they never shoot at me for some reason. Maybe because i was spaming the shoot button
Enjoyed all the bad ends in this. A nice little slice of the game so far and def excited to see what you all come up with for this one too
Thanks! Bad ends are what I'm all about so I'm glad they pass muster! I have plenty more in mind.
The sprite work in this is just simply amazing. Really really great job SF!
Great game. Looking forward to the next ubdate
How many bad ends are in this game?

Im looking forward to it, but may i ask for a small change? Could you maybe do something to change the buttons? ZXC are really annoying since european keyboards have Y and Z switched so i always have to use both hands for using shooting and shield good which really is annoying and really hard to play since i cant move then.
Im looking forward to the game

I can feel your pain D: I recommend changing your keyboard layout to the American one whenever you play, it's what I did for Texas in Trouble as well and it's a quick and easy fix.
Button changes are a little difficult on my end. I'll look into what I can do though.
This seems like it's gonna be a lot of fun when it's done!
Any chance of getting rebindable controls in a later version though?
Any chance of getting rebindable controls in a later version though?
Maybe, but unlikely. I'll need to look into how controls are handled.
Really awesome man.
and did I saw a teaser for Time wolf 2 out there :O
and did I saw a teaser for Time wolf 2 out there :O
Pretty please with vanilla ice cream and a cherry on the top?
Thanks! And yes, there was indeed a teaser for that... Despite how crap the first one was, people seem to want more :P
There can never be enough massive dino butt action! And it looks like we will indeed get more dino butt in the future, judging by what you said the boss of level 1 is gonna be :P
Well the Time wolf inspired me to make a platformer myself so its not that crap for a first ever game.
and finally a rare squashing type game thats fun too =3

holy shit dude, this is incredible, great work!
i have a few game design criticisms if you’re open to em:
1. not enough i-frames after a hit taken, very easy to get stunlocked
2. shotgun enemies can sometimes fire rapidly, not sure if intended but makes it impossible to kill them, with the only option being to block and pray
3. rocket launcher is literally impossible to avoid, heli charge might be too, i didnt test it because i was too busy watching that bad end hehe
4. pressing back changes your hurtboxes dramatically in a single frame, which means backing up to avoid something will often get you instantly hit by projectiles above or below, might be a good idea to not have the character stand completely upright
that’s it, thank you for reading and thank you for the amazing content!

Those darn shotgun pigs have been causing me no end of trouble...
But yes! All very fair points. I do need to look into more I-frames for sure, though the hurtboxes I'm not sure on. I would like to play with that concept later. Like having moves that you can avoid using that hurtbox switch. As to the rocket launcher, you can shoot the missiles (or moo-siles, if you will). The grab you just need to get out of the way, though only the cow's hand is a hitbox there.
Thanks!

I just played the demo and I'm already in love with this universe, and I love the character designs too~! the whole cyberpunk city aesthetic with big beautiful women with guns is always a win~ I can't wait to see more of this amazing project from you! keep up the good work~
Thank you! I'm really glad you're liking it so far! Honestly I didn't start out planning to make it cyberpunk/futuristic, but it just ended up kinda happening! And it looked cool, so...
All royalty free music. I'm not a musician, unfortunately, though I have considered trying sometime.
No problem! That's something I've wanted to do for a long while.
I can definitely see an animation or two of that in this new project!
PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS HOLY................................YES
I accidentally found a little bug while playing. Apparently if u use the special attack after u catch Clarissa he sprite disappears and the game game just kinda soft locks never ending. It was a lot of fun to play and discover all the game overs regardless, keep up the good work.
I've had similar reported if you attack normally while saving her. Definitely will need to fix it, and glad you enjoyed!
This is looking good so far! I would recommend making the bullets bigger, they're kinda easy to miss. Also maybe decrease the cooldown on the charge, it's a little long.
I've gotten 4 bad ends so far. getting crushed by the cow, used as a seat by the sheep, rubbed on the pig's butt, and just getting shot down. are there any more in this build?

The charge should be based on whether you've got enough energy in your bar (50%), but fair point on the bullets. And yes, I believe that's all of them.
Sorry, I meant the recovery time, not the time between uses. You spend a long time after the charge unable to control yourself.
Really enjoyed it! Can't wait for more levels. Also thank you for making gas optional, I really like your stuff but never been a fan of gas <3
No problem! I know that can be a deal breaker for a lot of people, so I want to make that the norm going forwards. And glad you enjoyed it!
I'm happy to hear that! But don't let it mess up your creative process. Can't wait to see what you make going forward.
Does it have fart as well alongside the usual butt sticker?
also one thing forgot to add, might suggest to switch x n z? normally z is for select and vice versa
This is amazing so far! I can't wait to see how this game plays out in your skilled hands! ^_^
I got three of the game overs with the enemies and when you get shot down. i can't figure out how to get the fourth one.
I have one question, how do I turn on gas in the options? I figured out what the arrow keys do in the options, but not that.
