I talk about games console generations, mostly generation six as that's my favourite one, just because.
Of course feel free to talk about your favourites in the comments.

I really liked what I think you described as generation 4, in particular Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis. Those were the two consoles I grew up with, so of course that's my bias! My father owned a video store, and they also rented video games. He would get a copy of every new game from these consoles, so I literally had a dresser drawer full of Super Nintendo games.
That's cool. Generation 4 or around that time was my gateway into the console world, though that was after I got a NES, ironic as the NES wasn't as successful a console here in the UK as it's competition; the Sega Master System. :D
Your Dad owning a video store does sound awesome! I would have gladly owned one of those back in the day if I could. :D

First proper console I had was a Wii, but I have a friend who had a SNES and GameCube. Been tempted to get a GameCube for sometime now.
I'm sure you'll love it. Just be wary that some Gamecube titles still command full price nowadays, depending on the series and the amount of units sold, but you should still get a few titles at a decently low price.
The Wii was OK, but I just didn't quite get the whole motion control thing, which is why I never owned one. :D

You're very welcome my friend David!!!Keep it up!!!*hugs*
For me, it's hard to say what my favorite generation was. If I had to narrow it down, I'd go with either the 7th, because of the Nintendo Wii, which I used to play A LOT, or the 8th, because of the 3DS and Nintendo Switch (I LOVED playing games in 3D when I could, and I just really enjoy playing the Switch.
Hopefully you didn't break an arm by using a Wiimote control when you had a Wii. . But seriously though, that's fine, but I just never got the Wii's gimmicky controls and by Gen 7 all the console companies I felt were doing at least one thing wrong which effected their sales big time. The 3DS is fine, once Nintendo released their 2DS to address the literal headache issues they were facing. That's why I have 2 of them. LOL!
Funny enough, i downgraded to a 2DS for that exact reason. I LOVED playing in 3D, BUT as time went in it caused me headaches if i did it for long periods. XD
The 3DS did have the option of turning the 3D off via a manual switch. But I preferred the 2DS simply out of principal, that and the fact that they very well built, as since they had children in mind for these systems, they made sure that they were very sturdy and could still work despite being dropped several times.
I know it did, but I was always bumping the slider whenever my hand moved (because of the fact my hands are always so shaky, due to my condition, if I'm focusing too hard) so I was always unintentionally hitting the slider. I eventually got sick of it and traded it in.
OK and yeah I can easily see you accidently hitting that switch a few times, if you were concentrating on certain games. I can imagine that got annoying pretty quickly. 'hug'.
