It's been about 2 months since the last time I drew Azali, so I figured it was time to revisit her.
After the last few pictures I drew, I wanted to try something a little different and slim down my anatomy slightly.
Azali seemed like a good test, as she started out maybe a little too curvy then I wanted.
The results are pleasing to me!
Originally I was going to just do a solo piece of Azali, but I wanted to do some more background practice.
I had Azali fighting some random alien bug, and bragging about how she shot down a hijacked ship out of orbit.
But, I wanted to show Azali in a softer moment, living up to her mantra of helping out the little guys.
The sketching and lining was pretty quick, but it was the coloring that obviously took up the most time.
I tried to give myself the rule of not drawing Azali against blue skies, but I could really think of what other colors to use for this alien planet.
To my credit, at least the background cliffs are different enough looking, and they contrast with the greens and blues the best.
It's nice to come back to Azali, no matter why I draw her doing, it's always a treat to see a finished picture of her.
Azali’s Notes:
I normally don’t like being called on for a mission like this, but seeing how this is important information to know, I figured I should have made a physical appearance.
Recently, some strange activity had been happening on planet Yavayama.
The ocean waters have become an odd turquoise color, as well as the sky.
While it doesn’t look necessarily odd for a small habitable planet, it’s the electromagnetic interference that these cliffs are giving off.
This area is called “The Ruby Cliffs” it’s a popular place for the natives of the planet to gather and marvel at the colors.
Not to mention, the Blood Orange trees in the forest that are harvested biannually.
There have been many reports of ships and surfers going missing whenever coastal storms hit this particular spot on the planet.
With the storms I mentioned prior, it’s starting to negatively effect the Blood Orange production.
Eventually people learned to stay out of the water, but now it seems like even entering the forest causes locals to vanish too.
I was tasked to aid the hunt for what was causing this to happen.
I had noticed that some Hyperian scientist erected a weather tower to keep the freak storms away as the aqua unit explores under the Ruby Cliffs.
Plus, a green house was built to house some samples of the Blood Oranges for testing.
I’m going to take a wild guess and imagine that the science team is being a little too overly paranoid about Space Pirate activity.
While Planet Yavayama is outside Galactic Alliance protection, it doesn’t fall under the pirate trading world category either.
Just a normal neutral planet that occasionally does trade with Hyperian worlds.
But, whatever I suppose, I guess it is better to be safe than sorry; still wish they called the Galactic Police Force first and not me.
Slowly I worked my way to the other side of the Hyperian facilities when I found two small cat like children.
The older had scraped his cheek and the younger was on the ground crying.
I asked them what was wrong, and the older told me he and his brother wanted to see what the cliffs looked like from the highest point.
However, in their excitement, it seems like they climbed up the cliffs so fast that they couldn’t figure out how to get back down.
Not to mention, I saw the remains of a smashed wicker basket with Blood Oranges splattered along the cliffside.
I picked up the younger brother to calm him down, as the older brother hugged my leg to steady himself.
I promised both of them to get them home.
The older brother pointed out the general direction of their village and together, the 3 of us made our way back safely.
Pierce was able to narrow down the right village, and I’ll admit, it would have been hard to narrow down by just visuals alone.
Their houses are either inside the trees on in the treetops themselves.
The parents were overjoyed to see their kids back, and a little miffed that the older brother disobeyed them.
Luckily, all he got was a scolding and the punishment of making a new basket to replace the one he lost.
I stayed in the village a little while just to ask the locals about the Ruby Cliffs.
Not much of the information was useful to me, but one of the village elders gave me some strange device.
It looked like some type of remote control that was weathered and cracked along the side.
She said she didn’t know what it was, but had forgotten to give it to the science team when they landed in order to help.
I reported back with this remote, and it seemed like this was the breakthrough the science team was looking for.
Turns out, the aqua team found some old wreckage of a ship at the bottom of the ocean.
This ship, was a Promethean craft that was giving off some odd strong S.O.S. signal that was so powerful, that it was the cause of the electromagnetic disturbances.
The science team tried to disable it via hacking and eventual brute force, but nothing worked.
But this remote, I guess, is able to shut off the signal.
Probably some microchip reading that only the ship can decode.
Which was a good thing, because the ship was leaking some type of fluid that was staining the ocean waters turquoise.
Doesn’t seem toxic, but I’ll let those guys test the waters for anything strange.
Plus, the villagers didn’t notice any flying craft in the sky, so I imagine whoever was piloting the craft died when the ship sank.
With my job done, I left them to salvage the ship remains out.
Before I boarded my ship, I did tell the science team that I found some missing locals hiding out in the forest.
They had to take shelter long enough for the storms to die down to get back home.
They were a little dehydrated, but nothing serious.
I guess I should be thankful for running into those two little cat brothers, I got to visit the locals, and take away some Blood Oranges as a thank you as well.
Just glad those kids are safe once again, I hope they don’t go rock climbing again until they are older.

Cute kittens, nice to see more of Azali's work.
Thanks man, I'm glad you liked the way Azali turned out.
It is nice to revisit her after a little while and get in some more background practice.
Eventually I'll have to flush out her race a bit, and eventually draw her spaceship at some point.
