Experiment #202: Growthworms
Type: earthworm (presumably)
Disposition: docile
Diet: bacteria, micro organisms
Description
These creatures take the form of what's assumed to be radioactive earthworms. They have two eyes but no other visible orifices, and their bodies are enveloped in a luminescent green slime of unknown substance that often
secretes from their bodies.
Upon several experiments conducted on the subject at hand, it's been concluded that these worms behave like a hive mind, acting as a unified consciousness on a normal juncture. The example being that when a single one exhibits a reaction, they all respond at once. These worms also possess the uncanny ability to multiply amongst themselves almost indefinitely but only to a necessary amount.
The most notable studies regarding the worms are it's temperament and interactions with other organisms. As stated above, the subject's disposition is extremely docile. They act in the manner of civilized pets. They can comprehend human speech but are nonverbal. It's been made apparent the subject's desire is to simply make comfort to another organism by physical contact, and possess a sense of pleasure and satisfaction. Regarding the interaction between the subject and another organism, the subject's nature has been heavily disclosed.
When ingested by another organism, the organism's body (stomach specifically) glows a bright green. Shortly after the consumption of the worms, they squirm and move within the organism's body, as seen from the exterior, and the organism proceeds to grow to a size surpassing their own. Whether or not this growth effect involves the slimy substance on their bodies remains ambiguous as there was no study on the chemical reactions of it.
This growing continues for a certain period of time and then comes to a halt. It seems this process is painless as no organisms have expressed any sense of internal or external pain or injury. After a certain period of time, the organism slowly but gradually shrinks back down to their original size. The duration of this growth effect varies among the individual but is never permanent.Upon closer inspection, the worms have been dissolved within the organism and the glowing fades away over time. It's been noted that the organism often expresses a sense of great pleasure when the subject is active within the body. Despite their reaction with other organisms, the subject bears no interest in inorganic matter and utilizes it in any way as a means to an end. They only develop an interest with organic organisms, specifically humans and animals alike and interact in a friendly manner as such.
These worms have been dubbed as "growthworms" considering the abnormal effect they have towards other organisms and their, presumably eerie, multiplication ability.
