Zindee finds that her temporary refuge is infested by sneaky hoomans, dressed in wizardly costume. (Humans are most often seen near Port Aurora. Not often up here on THIS side of the Dreamside.) These may be hooey researchers in disguise. Lost? They are sometimes considered awkward and/or scary pests by the Dreamside locals. Occasionally, they can be useful sources for for too simple or too exotic practical help, and are often easy to scam. Most hooeys also aren't quick enough to use defensive spells. Zindee has a reputation as being more than quick enough. Zindee may have her immediate escape problem solved, and perhaps the use of a couple of pack-critters to ride.

In the future, (and even sideways, into the fantasy past,) there is a cut of humans who want to be explorers, conquistadors, or colonial real-estate speculators. Port Aurora and the Dreamside aren't easy to get to, but when humans get there it is culturally difficult to keep those some of them from walking over sensible boundaries to someplace temporarily unoccupied.
Real Estate Developers? Oh, forfend! Better, I suppose, than Furry Pr0n purveyors, but that's only a matter of degree; they still smell as bad.
Yeah, Derraps might object to purveyors, but would also be likely to be intensely interested in analyzing ever example they could find.
Options; Change; Next you know: Dead food.
… I cannot completely parse this, but I like it.

You are a gentlefurry gentleman. The statement is probably a Derrap proverb (often quoted to discourage cultural change.)
It may be that we would consider traditional Derrap dinner courses to be somewhat too lively for our tastes.
Of course, a civilized Derrap gentlevarmint may just be making an ironic and self-depreciating joke about the visitors' expectations about Derrap hospitality.

If one considers the highly improbable possibility of actually live food, this statement suddenly makes much sense! I just thought they wanted to psychoanalyze…
I was majorly confused by the derrap-babble until I finally figured out what they were talking about (but only with a little help from reading the comments) X)
There are useful critiques in the comments, for which I am thankful. 😸
