Sit Next To Me
One day, you were walking home from work, when you notice something unusual in an alleyway. You see a strange feminine figure sitting next to the garbage, surrounded by a neon blue glow. Too curious for your own good, you walk up to the figure and find what appears to be some kind of anthropomorphic vulpine fox. Unable to move, she is tied up with some kind of strange glowing wire, tightly constricting her arms and legs. The creature has a beautiful coat of pastel yellow fur, with a soft white underbelly, sharp black eyes with blue pupils, and long purple gloves decorated with yin-yang over her wrists. Despite her powerlessness, the strange fox immediately bares her fangs at you, growling like an angry wolf while glaring in your direction.
Though cautious, you can't bear to see the creature like this, looking at the strange glowing wire as you scratch your chin. Reaching into your bag, you take out a swiss army knife, equipping a small pair of scissors from it. Her growling becomes more intense, leaning towards you as if threatening to bite you. You slowly inch your scissors toward the wire around her legs, trying not to spook her. But she suddenly snaps her jaws at you, only inches from your face before you manage to snip at the wire. But then, a painful sting surges through your hands, a white flash blinding you as you promptly drop the scissors.
You groan as you look at your hands, you're unhurt, but you quickly realize that the wire is electrified somehow. Looking back up at the strange creature, you can see her shivering, no… subtly spasming as if in pain. Whatever she was tied up with was obviously keeping her in a state of constant torment, as you could now see the distress in her eyes. Unable to ignore the suffering in front of you, you once again pick up the scissors and take a deep breath as you take another snip at the wire. A surge of electricity strikes the scissors, flowing into your hands as you clench your teeth to ignore the pain. Clamping down as hard as you can, your scissors miraculously cut the wire, causing the electrified bindings to dissipate as you quickly toss the swiss army knife away.
Tucking your arms into your belly, you fall to your knees while groaning in pain.
Taking a look at your hands, you see your skin blistering white with burns. You then look up at the fox creature, who is now tucked up in the corner of the ally with her arms and legs free, still growling but no longer appearing to be in pain, just frightened if anything. With the creature no longer needing your help, you tuck your hands back away and exit the ally, leaving the swiss army knife behind, still steaming hot from the electrical shock. After getting your wounds treated, you head back home with your hands all bandaged up. Entering your house, you place your keys on the table next to the door, but to your surprise, you see the swiss army knife placed there as well.
That's when you suddenly notice the strange fox standing in the corner of the living room, wearing a blank but stoic look on her face as she stares at you intensely. The fox’s eyes soon drift towards bandages on your hands, but immediately looks away with a grumpy huff. Gulping nervously, you ask her if she wants anything, but she remains silent, standing her ground and ignoring your inquiry. Trying not to bother her, you go about your business and start making your dinner.
For the next three days, she continues hanging around your place, but only seems to be around when you're at home as well. When you eat dinner, she's often watching from the next room, when in the living room she’s standing behind the couch, and when you enter your room, she’ll stay right outside the door or hang out on the roof next to the window. Though never interacting, she always seems to hang around nearby.
But then, one day something changed. You had just come home, ready to head to bed, but see the fox sitting on your couch, staring at you with her usual stoic expression. Surprised, you had never seen her sitting down in your house before, much less looking as if she was comfortable. Taking a deep breath, the fox relaxes her face, gently patting her paw on the empty space next to her on the couch, her eyes still fixated on yours.
Puzzled, you just tilt your head at her, wondering if she’s trying to say something. Looking impatient, she puffs out her cheeks, patting her paw on the couch a few more times, but this time harder than before. Looking side to side, you point to yourself nervously, still thinking of how to respond. “Do you… want me to…?” you stutter. "Mph!” she huffed, again patting her paw on the couch commandingly.
Complying, you drop your things next to the door, nervously making your way over to the couch. Unable to make eye contact, you sit down next to her, looking away in the opposite direction. With that, she wraps her left arm around you and pulls you in close, allowing your head to rest against her shoulder. “Hmm?” a surprised squeak escapes your lips, caught off guard as you're pulled up against her fluff. Slowly looking up at the strange fox, you find that she also has a hard time looking you in the eye, just staring intensely at the TV in front of her.
Though still puzzled, you can't help but smile as you are comforted by her warm hug. The two of you just sit there for a few moments, and you decide to break the silence by turning on the TV as you begin streaming a movie. The fox doesn’t seem to mind, watching the movie with you as you relax with her. But against your better judgement, you slowly fall asleep, your head slumping against her soft chest. Seemingly unbothered by this, she keeps you snuggled against her, letting in a deep satisfying breath. Not caring for whatever program was on the screen, but being happy with your company as she nuzzled you closer into her fluff.
