Hundreds of years have passed since Rakant visited Neiola, his first visit was fueled by rage and sorrow, with his flames he turned the once great nation of humans to nothing more than ruin and ash. Neiola was easy to destroy, it's army had been wiped out in the battle that killed the Serva, his blood flight. Systematically Rakant brought his flame from street to street, house to house, nothing was spared, not even the dogs. By the time Rakant finished, thousands perished and Rakant fled the continent to hide from the events that left him scarred spiritually and physically.
Although Rakant was gone, the innocents that lived with Neiola collectively bore a strong hatred and fear that would bind them to their kingdom sized mass grave. Throughout the years the kingdom served as a pool of dark energy many sources would try to use for their own benefit, however nothing became a serious threat until Ibenez's (the lich responsible for the Serva's fall from gace) dormant magic was being used to summon demons into the world. The source of energy this magic required, was found in heaps in Neiola, which resided just a couple of miles south of the Serva's final resting place. The effects of this evil became too great to ignore, the northern hemisphere of Veheril (the continent in which all of this took place), became a war zone in which demons and beast-men went from town to town killing all they could to fuel their dark magic further. Eventually the demons spilled out into the sea....
... were across the sea, their presence became felt in Muir'Beinn, Rakant and Takaani's territory. Their sailors reported demons kidnapping and killing their fellow seamen, this would not stand with the dragons. After dispatching the demons plaguing their homeland, Rakant and Takaani made contact with the few remaining Serva about the strange happenings from across the sea. A plan was devised to return to the final resting place of the Serva to deal with the source of the demons, but in order to do so properly, the source of power needed to be dealt with first.
Upon arriving in Veheril, the pair of dragons witness the horrific gore filled vistas the demons and beast-men had wrought. Rakant and Takaani did not have time to wait on the rest of the Serva to join them before they tackled the energy source; Neiola. Together they flew to the ruined kingdom, what waited for them was oceans of bone and vile undead that wanted nothing more than to rip Rakant apart. With the protection of Takaani, Rakant used his connection to the ethereal to cleanse the undead, each spell he cast required a massive amount of ethereal energy, and Rakant could only effect one district of the kingdom at a time. District by district however, Rakant and Takaani cleansed Neiola of it's long dead citizens, their spirits severed from the mortal plain so they may finally rest; regardless if they wanted to or not. The night was long and not without it's injuries, but in the end, with the sun cresting the ruined walls of the kingdom, they finish their task with one final spell and explosion of lightning. Silence filled the air, not a comfortable silence one may find in a forest, but a somber silence in which not even crickets dare to speak up and break.
Exhausted, Rakant and Takaani crawl their way into a nearby field of golden wheat grass to rest until the Serva arrive, on edge and fearful of being attacked, their rest would be uneasy but it comes to them eventually. Although their battle was over, another, larger battle awaits Rakant and Takaani to the north in a stone valley, filled with the bones of long dead dragons, and an army of demons and beast-men. But they're not alone, and there are loose ends to be tied.
