Spike and Scootaloo made their way towards a secluded area. The sound of the party diminishing the further they walked away from it. However, they made sure not to walk too far off, so as not to worry their loved ones.
The sound of laughter and crickets chirping were now the only things heard.
"You know, you're really hilarious, Spike!" Scootaloo exclaimed, a light pink dusting her cheeks.
"Am I?" Spike asked, his cheeks being dusted in the same peek as Scootaloo's.
"Yeah" she smiled at him. It was a smile filled with fondness, and her eyes were filled with that of love.
Earlier, the both of them had been at the wedding of Princess Cadence and the now Prince Shining Armor. Then the party came. Scootaloo had been sitting in a chair, away from the party. She hadn't expected what came next however.
Spike had come up to her, his body language and stutter indicating that he was nervous. The conversation that ensued was a short one, though it was what ultimately led to what they were doing now: sitting on a bench, talking and holding each other's hoof and claw.
Spike had asked her to dance, and Scootaloo, also nervous by then, had said yes. The dance had been fun, and unbeknownst to them, witnessed by their sisters, Twilight Sparkle and Rainbow Dash.
Then the kiss followed. To be honest, it was perfect timing. The feeling of butterflies dancing in their stomachs, the joy they had felt from confessing their attraction towards each other. It was completely euphoric. There were no words exchanged on what they were now. There was no need for them. They both understood.
And now, the night couldn't get more better. The moon shone bright, basking it's citizens in it's glorious light. It truly was both serene, and romantic.
While the sun may have been a symbol of life, joy, strength, and greatness for those residing in the pony nations of Equestria, the moon itself was a symbol of mystery, sereness, wisdom, and love.
Scootaloo lay her head on Spike's shoulder. The wedding, the party, and now her talking with her beloved and now beau had greatly exhausted her.
"Tired?" Spike asked, looking down at his belle.
"Yea" replied Scootaloo as she let out a yawn.
"You can go to sleep if you want" he told her, wanting her to rest.
"You sure?" She asked. She didn't want to bother him by sleeping.
"Yea. It won't bother me" said Spike, shifting so Scootaloo would be able to rest her head on his shoulder.
Scootaloo looked up at him in surprise, questioning how he was able to read her mind so well, before deciding to rest her head on his shoulder and quickly drifted off to sleep.
The two stayed like that for a while. Admittedly for Spike, it was quite troublesome having someone sleeping on your shoulder. His mobility was limited, and he had nothing to do. But luckily for him, his sister and her friend soon found their merry way to him and Scootaloo.
"Heya Spike!" Rainbow said, though quieter than she normally would have, due to noticing a sleeping Scootaloo moments before.
"Hi Dash" replied Spike, shifting his body to wave at the two mares in front of him, causing Scootaloo's head to enter an uncomfortable sleeping position: her head hanging as her body itself was sitting almost straight up.
"So?" Twilight had stepped into the conversation, excitement evident in her voice.
"So?" Spike repeated the question in confusion. He honestly didn't know what she was talking about.
"You and Scoots" clarified Rainbow Dash.
"Oh! That!" Now Spike was blushing. He held his claw up to his face, rubbing it as he pleaded to Celestia for the warmth to go away.
"So?!" Twilight had repeated her earlier question.
"Um... So what do you want to know?" Asked Spike.
"Well! Are you two official now?" Rainbow Dash asked.
Spike looked at Scootaloo's sleeping form. Her chest rising up and down softly. Then he looked at their hoof and claw. The events of that night flashing through his mind.
He had come to like Scootaloo long ago. He didn't know what it was about the filly. Perhaps it was because she had a dream. A goal that she endlessly pursed. Perhaps it was just her personality that had intrigued him. Or perhaps it was something else. Either way, he would never know.
But one thing he did know were his feelings. And he knew for certain that he liked her. And after that kiss, there was no doubt that she had liked him too. No words needed to be exchanged. They knew they were each other's beau and belle.
"Yea," he answered Rainbow Dash,"we are official".
