Bit of an intermission from convention sketchbook pictures...
So, this started as a pose practice from S00t, who then decided to make it a YCH, which I won. I figured to start with Sara because the pose suggested leaning crouching on something she had been working on. Then as the drawing progressed and clothes were outlined I commented that it looked like a WWII 'bombshells' poster, and Soot figured she'd go a bit more 'Rosie the Riveter' in response, and I started thinking of the story History Lesson I wrote which mentioned Sara's great-aunt 'Wavefront' who was more a late-WWII/50s/early 60s superheroine... So, yeah, went full 'Rosie the Riveter' poster picture with this. And well worth the results.
Artist's posting at /view/46566558/ so go say 'hi' there!

This turned out beautifully. I love the choice of the anvil.
Yes, it did. And the anvil certainly works really well with the pose.
Very nice, yeah there's just something about those retro posters that make them look quite awesome.
Yes, there's a reason I like Soot's work. A definite soft touch with the colouring and good feel of personality in the design.
Yes, they're all pretty tall. Sara in the modern generation bring the tallest in part because she did a little tweaking of her own biochemistry while growing up.
Here she looks much more 'cute' than usual. Must be in her younger adult years. Or it is, indeed an ancestor with more than a passing resemblance.
Yeah, I figure that's her great-aunt, just like the Western wanted poster by the same artist was Sara's great-great-grandmother. The 'mad scientist' abilities do run in the family.
Though now I'm remembering a line from somewhere about 'madness doesn't just run in his family, it full-out gallops'.

Cary Grant, through a quick Google search.
"Insanity runs in my family. It practically gallops." - Cary Grant
... sorta sounds like it's better than having the Spark, though.

Ah yes. Sounds like a quote from Arsenic and Old Lace, now that I have a name attached to it. It would certainly make sense for that movie.
(I'd actually heard that story as a radio play before I saw the movie version.)

This is a nicely composed piece.
Is she working on the anvil itself, or did something get accomplished out of frame?

I have no idea. Honestly it was probably composed as a picture for a 'Rosie the Riveter' style poster, rather than being a candid shot.
