Smarty Pants
—Represents Junior’s sense of Intellectualism.
—Manifested when Pop-Pop created an invention that was meant to help Junior catch up after receiving a poor early education. He chose his name when Pop-Pop referred to him as such sarcastically, and he liked how it sounded. (NO LONGER CANON).
— Appears when Junior puts on glasses
—Uses diapers because he believes that true geniuses don’t let anything slow them down, not even potty breaks!
—Strengths:
—He is adept at solving technical problems and can build impromptu gadgets very quickly if he has access to suitable materials.
—He can perform advanced mathematical equations to assist in being able to perform tricks with astounding accuracy and precision.
—He seems to be the most responsible of the personas and will gladly volunteer to tasks that the others are unwilling to perform
—Weaknesses:
—Because he is very logic and fact oriented, he tends to have a harder time understanding emotions. This means he will not always behave appropriately in a given situation, although he usually doesn’t mean any harm.
—Even though he is capable of coming up with solutions to problems very quickly, he has a bad habit of getting caught up in minutiae and going on rambling lectures about useless facts, making him unpleasant to be around for long periods of time.
—If he is confronted by something that defies logic, he will either become obsessed with figuring it out, or will temporarily give up control of the body to another one of the personas
(The following is no longer canon, but I thought I would share it anyway 😅).
—The thing that allows Smarty Pants to willingly give up control of the body is Praise. As a child, Mason lived a hard life where he was severely neglected. To have someone actually acknowledge his usefulness will mean that Smarty Pants has fulfilled his function. It takes those around him a while to figure this out, as his slightly obnoxious behavior and rambling lectures makes it unlikely anyone would want to praise him, despite how useful he might be.
—Relationship to the other personas within the ‘mindscape’:
—Spike: Spike loves bullying Smarty Pants, often giving him wedgies, noogies, wet-willies, and calling him names like ‘Dork’ and ‘Soggy Pants’. This leads Smarty Pants to wonder if Spike hates or resents him to some degree.
—Mason: Like the other personas, Smarty Pants actively attempts to keep Mason from regaining control of their shared body. If he is ever alone with Mason, he would attempt to logically analyze Mason’s anti-social behavior, but a few harsh words or even a few blows will quickly shut Smarty Pants up.
—Beau: Smarty Pants has mixed feelings towards Beau, in that on one hand, he logically understands that Beau is a kind persona who has never shown him any malice. However, deep down, he seems to resent Beau, wondering why everyone seems to instinctually like Beau and dislike him. He knows that these feelings are illogical, so he doesn’t voice them, and yet it is something that bothers him from time to time.
—Junior: Smarty Pants has a better relationship with Junior because he views Junior as a bit of a silly simpleton. He is a bit miffed that Junior is one of the ‘main’ personas, but he always tries to offer helpful, if not incredibly boring, advice on how he should run their body.
—Baby J: Smarty Pants dotes upon Baby J and enjoys taking care of him in the mindscape. He will often yak away about various topics while carrying Baby J around.
