"The clothing worn by females at formal and informal dance events is strongly linked to the family and community traditions they live by. The bands around the chest and waist (green in this image) differ in color depending on the island or region the individual is from. The fabric can be of any color or material but the family crest (generally referred to as a 'stamp') is always somewhere on the clothing, in this case on the skirt. Jewellery, unless recently purchased or made, is almost always passed down from previous generations in the family. At local dances and events, the clothing is often more 'revealing', as these are seen as good places to meet possible mates."
