Frankly, this looks damn cool! Wish I could use it in my D&D campaign!
An interesting design. The clasp on the bottom may be a hassle to deal with on, say a lectern though. But as far as Rule of Cool is concerned, it scores pretty highly.
A lectern is basically a small inclined desk for a book to sit on. The two clasps opposite of the back of the book are not a problem, but the one on the bottom is - because it would cause the book to tilt slightly to one side if closed, and worse even, would cause the back of the book to droop if opened - which over time causes damage to the book itself.
This is just amazing. The mix of bone and flesh, the tattered edges of the pages. It looks like it belongs in a D&D type game as a fairly high level artifact.
I definitely agree with everyone saying they'd love to see this in a D&D campaign. Heck, I'd love to encounter this as a player. Fantastic design!
