It was... cold, so very cold, but also it was the night of Christmas Eve. The strangely familiar yet entirely alien society didn’t have an equivalent holiday fall on the same day, and thus, it was only celebrated by a select few. New Years had the spirit of Christmas, but not the flashy lights or fireworks. In case you couldn’t tell, these guys really disliked the cold, and hated it even more outside.
Lilly, the large beau blue lizard, was coated in several layers of thick insulation, but even that isn't enough to stave off the chilly bite alone. Much to Andrew's amusement, the reptile appeared to gain a few dozen pounds as she shivered, but wasn't willing to gamble his life to say that out loud. Heaters did their best to keep everything inside warm, but they also had the problem of sucking the air dry of moisture. Which, wasn't always a bad thing, but few things were worse than feeling like a cold, dry husk. At least nothing was caked in frost.
Tiredly plopped atop their large bed, one could hear her clattering teeth. She sported a pink sweater atop numerous other thick sweaters, and gray sweats atop a few of those too. The human, better adapted towards cold temperatures, wore only one pair of the itchy, woolly, clothes. In fact, he preferred wearing nothing at night, even in the cold. Why? Andrew simply liked sleeping in the nude, and no cold would normally deter him.
His big lizard girlfriend would disagree, that’s why they owned thermal blankets, unfortunately she was still not too comfortable seeing him in his birthday suit either. So he’d have to suck it up, wearing clothes with her instead.
“Uhhnn... Why can’t we just skip Winter...” Lilly complained with a groan, moving at a snails pace to get under the covers. The man snickered at her dramatic acting. Despite being reptilian in appearance, she was far from completely cold blooded. In-fact, their body’s metabolisms would move into “overdrive” when it got sufficiently cold, to stay warm.
“Come on, don’t be like that. Wouldn’t you rather get warm cuddles all the time while it’s cold, than when it’s hot all the time?”
“...Are you just gonna make fun of me or help?” She deadpanned with an unamused expression.
“Fi~ne, don’t have to be a spoil-sport.” Andrew climbed into bed and lifted the covers, lowering them once Lilly was finally below them. He would also plug in the thermal blankets before getting under them himself.
Almost immediately, heat began to radiate from the covers into a pleasant warmth. The lizard deflated with a relaxed sigh, like a switch had just been flipped and soon stopped shivering. Lilly was often moody when it got too cold, or so he’s discovered. Her attitude always softened when she warmed up, even just a little, at least.
“Sorry.” Her features flipped into that of an apologetic frown, guilt seeping through her voice.
“You don’t need to be Lil, I know Winter isn’t your favorite season.” Andrew booped her reptilian snout. That seemed to have brightened her mood a bit as her cheeks glowed a faint pink with a smile. Pulling the human close into a tight embrace, negative feelings crumbling into pure desire for his warmth and love. Cuddles were followed by tender pecks and kisses, in-between hums of joy and giggles. Even without the thermal blankets, Andrew was sure nestling together like this would have warmed each other up just fine.
They both absolutely adored these interactions together, it really got the endorphins flowing that really expressed their mutual love.
Finally, after a particularly long make-out session, they released each other’s lips and panted heavily. Their hearts beat a mile a minute from the adrenaline pumping through their veins. As the high began to wear off, Lilly sighed contentedly, relaxing her grip on the human.
“Is this what ‘Chris-maas’ on Earth is supposed to be like?” She asked quietly
“It’s ‘Christ-mas’ silly, and yeah, we’re supposed to show how much we love each other. That was usually through gifts, and at some point it just became another holiday for corporations to sell you more cheap consumer items. We haven’t yet forgotten what the true meaning of Christmas is, at least.”
“Humans are weird.” Lilly laughed quietly, while Andrew couldn’t quite keep his down.
“Ha ha, yeah, that we are Love; that we are.” As they settled down and the joyous atmosphere quieted to simple breathing, the human brushed his fingers over her cheek lovingly. She accepted the touch and closed her eyes, enjoying the pleasant sensation against her rough scales. Minutes passed by, and Andrew could feel her breathing and heart slow as she drifted off to into a peaceful slumber. A smile was left on her reptilian lips, and it made his own curl up into a affectionate grin. Giving one last gentle peck to her nose, he closed his own eyes and pressed himself against her warm breasts.
Eventually, the realm of dreams claimed him too, happy and content.
