Magical users and heavy armour aren't so opposed to each other as it may seem, in the current world very few magical users have significant pieces of armour because the knowledge of how to produce them is mostly lost,magical users can't just wear full plate or power armour like regular people, in order to be effective with their magic they need garments that help to vent the magical entropy and heat away from their bodies.

Even during the height of the golden era of the mages there was very little forges churning out sets of enchanted armour for magical users, due the complexity of the work needed, in order to produce a enchanted set of armour, machines of ludicrous complexity are required also noble and rare materials, heavy magical armour was reserved only to the most prestigious and rich of magical users...but it worth the price, a well done set of such kind of armour can make the user an almost unbeatable machine of war, nothing but the most dedicated of heavy weapons can hope to pierce such kind of plate even on the weakspots and the increased venting of entropy grants the hability of casting greater spells without suffering with overheating.

Danadriel have one of these legendary sets made exclusively for him by his beloved friend Ezekyel, not even the Witch King Gwydion has such piece of art, Ezekyel made this armour out of spite for the sorcerers who downplayed his achivements, the armour irradiates this vengeful feeling and Danadriel loves it! this armour was first used during his lonely war against the red army, first time in around 1000 years that a single magical user fought openly against an organized army...and won, an event that snowballed several major conflicts in the magic world.
