Edit 2: After missing out on Athens in 2021, and in 2022 we decided to instead visit Thessaloniki due to the high costs of Athens at the time, I will now definitely be visting the capital of Greece in 2023, in conjunction with a couple of nights in Bucharest, Romania.
Edit: Typically the week before we go to Greece a new variant has appeared and implanted more rules for the week we were due to go away. Our airline strong armed us into a position where were were unable to get a refund or move our flights so we are going to loose our money. We can still go if we wanted but due to the uncertainty of the situation and the additional fees for additional tests coming back, we would rather cut our losses at this point.
With travel properly opening up again; this December I"m heading off to Athens, the capital of Hellenistic Republic (commonly known as Greece).
This will be the first time I will have visited Greece in 21 years; having been to Zakynthos in 1998 as my first ever time abroad and then Corfu in 2000. Because it"s been such a long time since; and I was so very young at the time, this will feel like a brand new country to me, dispite already counting it as one of my now 29 Countries I"ve visited as of time of posting!
