Después de mucho pensar, decidí que la familia (de mi headcanon) que quería dibujar era la de Sarafina, una leona fuerte que crio a tres niños sin la ayuda de ninguna figura paterna.

Solo Nala y Mheetu son sus hijos biológicos, ambos medios hermanos entre sí: el nombre del padre de Nala es Pawel, un amigos de la infancia de Sarafina, y el nombre del padre de Mheetu es Rasmi, un león blanco con quien Sarafina tuvo un romance poco antes de la muerte de Mufasa. Ambos leones fueron expulsados del reino cuando Scar y sus hienas tomaron el poder.

Zuna es hija de Nilam, prima de Sarafina, y Tanwir, un león del reino. Zuna queda huérfana de ambos padres a los pocos días de nacida, cuando Nilam y Tanwir intentaron escapar del reino y fueron descubiertos por las hienas. Sarafina se hizo cargo de ella, pues era la única leona de la manada que tenía leche (Mheetu era aún un cachorro lactante). La relación de Zuna y Sarafina es más de tía-sobrina, pues Zuna es consciente de que ella no es su madre ni Nala y Mheetu son sur hermanos, así que nunca los ha llamado como tal. Más adelante, se convierte en madre de Tiifu.

After much thought, I decided that the family (of my headcanon) that I wanted to draw Sarafina's, a strong lioness who raised three cubs without the help of any father figure.

Only Nala and Mheetu are their biological children, both half-siblings to each other: Nala's father's name is Pawel, a childhood friend of Sarafina, and Mheetu's father's name is Rasmi, a white lion with whom Sarafina had a romance shortly before Mufasa's death. Both lions were expelled from the kingdom when Scar and his hyenas took power.

Zuna is the daughter of Nilam, Sarafina's cousin, and Tanwir, a lion from the Pridelands. Zuna is orphaned by both parents a few days after she was born, when Nilam and Tanwir tried to escape from the kingdom and were discovered by the hyenas. Sarafina took care of her, as she was the only lioness in the pride that had milk (Mheetu was still a nursing cub). Zuna and Sarafina's relationship is more that of aunt-niece, as Zuna is aware that Sarafina is not her mother, nor are Nala and Mheetu her siblings, so she has never called them as such. Later, she becomes Tiifu's mother.
