The monstrous scaly pike has been killed, as the lion paladin Sir Kiljaos had been slashing it from the inside and the pirates finished it off with harppoons. Zak the fox pirate is bragging on how he downed the beast with only one harppoon strike, but does admit that it had been softened up before they faced it. Zofie the vixen pirate captain and Zak's cousin, isn't very pleased though as Zak had gone dangerous monster hunting without her permission. Zak does remark that if they wouldn't had, they wouldn't had saved Kiljaos from the scaly pike's insides. Kiljaos does indeed seem badly wounded and without the pirates coming along he would had to drift on the pike's carcass in the open sea and possibly die in his wounds!
Black Isle, that Zofie mentions, is a town in the kingdom of Pohjoland in Karamador, that is based on the city of Vaasa here in Finland, which's name originally was "Mustasaari", translated meaning "Black Isle". For now it's up for reader's imagenation to figure out what trouble the pirates ran into there.
