This is REALLY goofy (probably the kind of goofy that busts out of the self-awareness bubble) but I wanted to do something for fun and for myself, to try and give a name for this obsession I"ve had my entire life, even before picking up a pencil to write stories about it or to draw furries constantly being sucked into everything. Figured that was the the closest I could find to both sound appropriate but also fit with the definition.
"Sugophilia: An affinity for characters being sucked in or towards something.
Derived from the latin word "sugo" meaning to suck, to imbibe, to take in.
Can be just about anything: a vacuum, a monster, a vortex or tornado, a television, any object you can think of or situation. Wind is implied by the nature of it, but also being sucked in by gravity, magic, water, direct absorption, or a big pair of lips would fit, too.
Similar to another made up word, anemophilia, which roughly can be translated to the love of wind."

Then again, with these weird headphones I found, I can be one! These babies have given me the ability to shapeshift!
Fun fact, my original character's name "Sorbeo" comes from "Esorbeo", which means: To suck in, gulp down, to swallow.
Fun fact indeed! That's really cool to hear name origins like that.
I had a lot more, but I lost the wordpad.txt I had them stored on. lol
The only ones I can remember off the top of my head are Sugere=To Suck and Turbinis=Whorl, eddy, tornado. :3

You can take it even more exact, too, with language! Adsugo means "to suck towards" which while more fitting, I suppose, for what I draw, I like still generalizing the term a bit. Sugere and suctus were definitely considered as well.
Niiiice. Always nice to have a name to put to something, heh. :3
I love the slow, sucking into giant squishy lips kind of vore that you do tbh! It's very close to my sinking interests, especially considering how often you do it feet-first.
Being sucked into the ground or sucked into the wall via a squishy floor def counts, I'd say.
I mean, I definitely enjoy those for sure, albiet a slower kind of suck than the kind you'd associate with a vacuum! However, being sucked through the air towards something doesn't catch my interest, it's really only the sinking kinds of suck I suppose!
This is a pretty good definition to describe this type of affinity! Sometimes I've tend to gravitate towards the nonsensical or meta type of subjects, like getting sucked into the next panel of a page, or potentially getting sucked into a hud element of the viewer's screen. (Sounds absurd in text, though)
I wonder what happens if two subjects end up getting sucked into each other though?

The absurdity is what makes it fun at least. As for what happens, hmm, no clue, but I imagine that'd be up to preference if it'd be fun to imagine two beings sucked together as merged or transformed into a whole new thing.
Kaz, I swear, this is something I've had for a long, long time. Thank you for putting a word to it.
It's exceptionally rare, and despite me making it a major focus of my art I've never thought to give it a full name since "vacuum vore" or whatever really never fit for how I saw it. This is something I've always wanted to try.
Up untill now, the best way I knew to describe it accurately was: if it can suck me in, I'm into it.
Which I'll probably still use if people ask about Sugophilia, but still.

Yeah I've always had an interest in it myself and just have always called it called vacuum vore since that's typically what most people tag it as or refer to it on various sites, but it'd be nice to have a more concrete word like this to describe the fetish more exactly as its own thing.
As an aside it is kinda funny how it does the thing vore does in its naming where it combines a Latin word with a Greek one, but at least isn't as much of a disaster. Vore on the other hand turns into "vorarephilia" in its full form due to how those words clash which is fairly clunky to write out, or say even.

The full greek + greek I guess would be roufóphilia but I notice a lot of these cases do a bit of mixing. Ultimately without a scientific method to this it's just interesting to go with what catches the spirit the most. I have no clue if sugophilia will even catch on as this was more for myself to give it a name, but I think it'd be kinda neat if it did, especially if others are into such a thing.
Yeah it sounds better with the Latin one. The greek+greek version of vore is phagophilia and I think you can imagine why people didn't wanna be called that lol. You can find some quite old stuff from the early days of the internet with the vore community using that word though, which is neat at least.
Sure why not. Being the picky person I am, I'll probably just stick to just calling it vacuum vore myself.
Interesting. I've drawn some of these vortex suction situations out myself, but may explore it more.
This genuinely is a good derivement of a kink name, which I could definitely see being picked up as a common kink term, like expansion or vore, excellent work! Especially on the art!
