The door to Evan’s apartment slammed shut as he grumbled in frustration. Work was mundane as usual. The man hung up his suit and undid his dress shirt’s collar, slipping out the tie and placing it on the small cabinet beside his shelf. He took a seat on the couch and rubbed his head, messing up his previously combed, black hair.
Evan sighed and looked at the clock on the opposite wall. 10:45PM. He had to wake up at 6AM and get to work by 6:45. He shocked his head in disappointment. Twenty years old and he was already feeling stressed out, worried his work wasn’t optimal and that he was going to be fired come the day’s end. It sucked.
He stood up and shook his head. Probably should start getting ready for bed. He began to walk through the hall that led to his bedroom when something caught his eye. A strange blue glowing emanated from a room that he hadn’t started using. The man walked in to inspect it, finding a large… rift? It looked like a tear in reality. Eric backed away slowly, panicked at what this… thing was. A strange whirring noise came from the rip, growing loud with each passing moment. A draft began to overtake the room, and electricity began to crackle.
The man was paralyzed with fear. He didn’t know what was happening, part of him didn’t want to know, but he just couldn’t seem to gain the strength to move. The noises got louder and louder, the wind growing stronger, and the rift appeared to be growing larger. Evan began to hyperventilate, thoughts of this killing him crossing his mind.
And then everything stopped.
The rift suddenly closed, imploding in on itself. Evan let out a sigh of relief, but was suddenly taken out of his feeling of peace when a ball of light manifested in the room. In a flash of light, the ball dissipated leaving a singular blue, crystalline shard on the ground.
The man hesitantly walked over to the crystal shard. Looking down at the ground, the shard seemed to emanate small amounts of light. It frequently changed colors from blue to purple with waves of white flowing across it. Evan bent down to pick it up, the crystal feeling warm and glassy. It was like a legitimate shard of glass. And more importantly, it was sharp like one too.
He hissed in pain as the crystal cut a wound in his hand. Frantically dropping the mysterious object down, he felt an unbearable migraine grow in his head.
Need… a replacement…
Fill the void…
Balance the universe…
The migraine came to a sudden halt, allowing Evan to look down at his hand. A dazed feeling began to overtake the man, but he was focused on trying to process what had just happened.
“I should… I should probably bandage this thing up…”
The man walked out of the empty room, unaware that the crystal had completely disappeared.
Running into the bathroom, Evan opened cabinets up in order to find some form of disinfectant. The wound seemed to have stopped bleeding. Oddly enough, it had even begun to heal already.
After a few minutes, Evan began to clean his wound. His head still felt a bit hazy. Find a replacement for what? Balance the universe?? What kind of drugs was in that shard?!
Evan felt a sharp pain in his hand and looked down at the wound, noticing that it was rapidly healing. Upon closer inspection, he noticed something peculiar was beginning to happen. Two of his fingers were merging together. Looking at his other hand, he looked to see that it was affected by a similar fate.
“What the hell?”
The wound quickly began to scar, and from the scar grew bright orange fur. The fur rapidly engulfed his hand and spread up his arm, thinning out his already non-muscular limb. The man rolled up the arm of his dress shirt to watch the changes occur, feelings of both awe and fear welling up inside him.
“This is… absurd…”
His body began to feel warm as sweat came from his forehead. Another migraine began to overwhelm his head, prompting him to hold his head in his hands and hiss in pain.
Fate of the galaxy not in his hands…
Timeline already doomed…
Evan felt like gravity was beginning to turn on him as his spine began to compress and shrink. Much of his body was succumbing to this feeling, limbs shrinking and thinning as his body youthened. His breathing began to change into a higher, more childlike pitch as the pain in his skull intensified.
He needs to exist in every timeline…
Everything needs to remain balanced!
Evan pushed himself off the sink and looked at his body. He felt itchy with fur growing all over his body. He rolled his other shirt sleeved and watched as the fur encompassed his unchanged arm. He could even feel some of the fur growing up his neck.
“Wha- what is happening to me?!”
He gasped as he noticed his voice had changed. Higher pitched, voice cracking, he sounded like he was somewhat ways through puberty. Another headache then overcame his skull, the boy shakily moving to the door and using the handle as support. A tail grew from the base of his spine, already covered in the orange pelage, which the fur overtook the rest of his body. His face ached as it pushed out into a cream colored muzzle with a soft, pink nose. Orange fur overtook his head, changing the facial structure to become more feline-like, while his ears moved to the top of his head, innocently poking out of his unchanged hair.
The pain subsided for the moment, allowing Evan to recollect his mind. He looked over to the mirror, eyes widening in horror as to what he had become. He raised a shaky limb and pinched it to test if this was a dream, but all of it was real. The back of his mind felt bloated, like something was preparing to completely change his brain structure.
Staring at the mirror, he watched as his hair shortened to fit his fur. The edges became a dark brown while the middle stuck up into a turquoise mohawk. His ear flicked as he tried to take in what he was watching. His clothing shrunk to fit his body. His dress shirt’s split dissipated, the sleeves shifting into nothing as the shirt brightened to a yellow color. The color bulked into a turtle neck while a dark grey strap materialized around his chest. His leather belt changed into a grey color with the buckle bulkening into a black belt buckle. A medium grey skirt went around his black dress shorts while the shorts lost their bagginess, transforming into black leggings. Finally, his dress shoes bulked and lengthened into grey boots.
Evan inspected his new attire and body, his head still feeling extremely groggy. The panic seemed to slip away as his mind felt more and more bloated. Each second went by with him feeling more like this was correct. He watched in curiosity as his tail moved. Staring at the mirror, he looked at his new face and smiled. This felt great.
And then it happened.
The bubble in his mind burst, new thoughts and memories flowing out of control. He lost his balance and fell, falling and falling through a colorful-dimension warping tunnel. Memories of his life on Tera Con Prime with his dad came up, traumatic experiences as the Lord Commander’s prisoner, the feeling of joy when his father came for him…
The feeling of terror when his father died in front of him…
Happy memories with the Team Squad, almost dying a second time in a fight with the Lord Commander, finding Gary again-
The 60 years he is spending behind a time shard-
Little Cato woke up in a cold sweat inside his room in the Crimson Light. He looked down at the bunk below him to find Fox sleeping away, if not snoring a bit too loudly. The young Ventrexian shook his head and collected his thoughts.
Everything was fine.
He was fine.

“It is outside of our jurisdiction to do such a thing!” a spider creature bellowed at his fellow mechanical arachnid cohorts.
“As much as it is, we need to keep the timelines balanced. A single mistake and the timelines are doomed!”
“All the timelines are already doomed!”
One of the Arachnitects huffed, “We at least have to try our best to prevent the upcoming catastrophes.”
The leader’s visor dimmed a bit, “I know, but I don’t think anything can. No amount of timeline fixing will undo what is destined to be done.”

Altered Fragments - Little Cato TF/MC/AR
I had this written out roughly two weeks ago but forgot to post it. This was somewhat suggested by someone on my Avocato TF story from May. To be honest I was somewhat iffy on writing it since I'm not a big fan of AR, nor do I like using younger subjects in my TFs, but I came up with an interesting scenario that I really wanted to write out.
