Hah! Nice work, and funny I just made a Kenku for a campaign some buds just started. Trying out the Artificer class, because why not compound learning 5e, learning a new, complicated class, and playing a character with limited dialogue options.
yeah I struggled with mimicry thing - and Artificer sounds fun actually
A book with a quill is quite useful in such situations like that least thats what I did for a robin hood type kenku she has a magical book she can write in endlessly to speak
Yea, nice solution to that! First session I resorted to that concept a couple times - Artificer probably already always has a notebook and writing utencil handy (setting is like steampunk/fantasy). Still trying to keep that as a side option, because making funny noises in voice chat to emote intent is a hoot, long as we're not spending half our time playing birb charades.
So sweet, I recently did a one shot playing as a kenku monk that wore a plague doctor's mask :D
