This whole piece is very powerful, down to the exhausted expression. Beautifully done.
The night's battles had been brutal and exhausting. The enemy had been relentless in their assaults, resulting in only mere minutes of rest for the defenders. Even so, the Gryphon standard still flew, dogged and resolute. As dawn's early light grew from the nautical twilight, the last surviving officer saw what the day would bring, and her spirits flagged.
