So I saw a drawing over on Pixiv (https://www.pixiv.net/en/artworks/89028654) and it struck a chord with me, and I decided to try to do something with similar body shape / proportions. Although I'm not a big fan of this particular head shape, it just seems to work here, for some reason. I love the body shape and proportions overall, though, particularly the short legs, belly/chest taking up most of the figure, and the eyes being close together with the larger nose.
Honestly, the eyes are something I think about a lot. I see a lot of drawings of big guys with little eyes close together and it seems to work really well. I tend to draw Herb and Oof with relatively larger / normal sized eyes, though I have been playing around a bit recently with making them smaller, different shapes, etc. I've actually tried putting the eyes really close together in the past but did not like the look of it on them, but I feel like with -this- drawing, it looks great! I'm not sure why, perhaps it's because the top part of the head is so small as well.
I really like the short legs as well, though I feel like those could present an issue to me if I tried to draw a more dynamic pose, or even just something like just sitting on a chair, I feel I would struggle to figure out what to do with the legs.
It bothers me that I like this look so much, because I've been spending so much time slowly working in more realism into my drawings over time (At least with Herb, anyway), and this is a big step back towards a cartoony-er look, and now I'm feeling like I want to re-define my style once again. We'll have to see, though. Perhaps I can start drawing multiple styles, who knows?

Honestly I would say go for something like this as a side style
You really did well with it and I know you love the realism and so do I but you work really well on things like this because it works with the anatomy you draw, a little exaggerated as well as really appealing

Thank you, you bring up a good point, I -do- draw somewhat exaggerated anatomy. I might try to develop both these styles at once! Could be fun, hehe.
melding your style might aslo make drawing easier with the simplistic flat color and anatomy but also gives a variety to what you can work with
Aye, the flat color (and lack of solid black outlines) was because this was pretty much just a "sketch," future drawings in this style, assuming they come, won't be flat color! >:D
This is pretty much what a drawing of mine looks like before I do the shading and line work.

it looks incredible nonetheless :D
emotion filled and dynamic to bigger bodies

Hrmm, maybe... just be careful, he might start to wonder if he can sit on you in return.
I like the overall shape but something, and I'm not a smart enough art critic to say what it is specifically, about it reads a little too close to "Peter Griffin" for comfort. I wish I could put my finger on it. But hey don't worry about style. Just draw what you like however you want to draw it and your style will evolve as needs be.
