As per usual, the Friday that followed was eventful because of Theater. In other classes, for Math, they had a quiz, History, it was the same deal, P.E., there was lap timing. For Biology, they studied some animal and plant cells, English, another quiz, Home Ec., it was mainly about learning prices and taxes that day. Finally, there was Theater. The main points of interest were that the teacher collected any money made from tickets and that the students had to practice using their costumes while acting. While most outfits didn't get too much attention, people did give Andrew's girl clothes weird looks.
"Not to be rude, but you look kinda weird in a dress," Gwen had said honestly while backstage.
Gasper nodded in agreement. Andrew simply shrugged.
"Eh, it was the best they could do. Plus, I think I look nice enough! :]."
Gwen gave a small, cheery giggle. Gasper simply shook his head. After Friday came the weekend. As per usual, not much really happened during those two days. The only thing of real interest that happened was that the cake Andrew ordered came on Sunday. After he took it and put it in the fridge, Andrew made sure to let Grey, Cedric, and Azrael know to keep away from it. For Asmodeus, Andrew didn't bother to warn him because he knew that Asmodeus didn't eat food. Eventually, Monday came. Minus the quizzes, the day was basically like Friday. As for the friend quadrio, things were also pretty much the same w/ them. The only new thing, sadly, was Andrew saw Drake cough up blood in a trash bin again. This time, however, was worse because Andrew saw some vomit mixed in.
How are you still standing?! Andrew asked.
Another thing was that a crying boy was comforted by his friend. When Andrew asked what was going on, the friend explained that the boy's mom had been taken by the Imposter last night.
"So it is real," Andrew muttered.
When Andrew asked Gwen and Gasper more about the Imposter during lunch, they said that there had been quite a few students who had lost a family member because of the Imposter. He'd come in during a time when the student's adult family member was alone, and he'd brutally murder them, leaving only a bleeding corpse behind. Andrew blanched at that.
"Thank God the people I live w/ are powerful magic users," Andrew muttered.
Eventually, though, the rooftop time came. After a few minutes, Ash called.
"Yes?" Andrew asked.
"There's a situation in Mahogany Valley in Texas. Get there and take care of it."
"Ok," said Andrew.
After hanging up, Andrew looked something up on his phone.
"And now?" Gwen asked.
"Mahogany Valley in Texas," said Andrew.
"Isn't that the fucking valley that witches are drawn to?" Gasper asked.
Gwen's face beamed at that.
"Yes," Andrew replied.
Andrew then held his hands out. Once the siblings grabbed the hands, and Drake slowly grabbed the right shoulder, Andrew twitched his stitched tail, and the quadrio disappeared. On the other side, they were in a pretty dry place. It was a gigantic valley that came in shades of gray and brown. There were barely any signs of plant life aside from some sparse bits of green here and there. A few feet away, there was a guy w/ fluffy red hair. He wore long, black pants w/ matching boots. He was also bare-chested, showing off a muscular physique. Finally, the man's face and neck were covered by a black cloth apart from his eyes, and he wore a gray headband. The man waved the quadrio over.
"Are you our client?" Andrew asked once they reached the man.
In the distance, he noticed some sort of purple barrier.
"Hi, yes. My name is Akuku!" the man said.
"What's the fucking situation?" Gasper asked.
Akuku sighed.
"I was trying to get to the center of this place because I heard that there was someone who might help w/ a problem I've been having w/ a spirit that lives in me-"
(Drake)
Alter couldn't help but feel offended by what this place was for.
The actual hell? Alter asked acidly.
(Andrew)
"Unfortunately, though," Akuku continued, "the area is being blocked off. Can you figure out what's going on?"
Gasper and Gwen immediately rushed forward. Andrew and Drake then followed suit. After a bit, the quadrio stopped in front of the barrier.
"So... anybody got a game plan for this?" Gwen asked.
Andrew gave an uncertain look. He then went to touch the barrier. Suddenly, Andrew was gone! Everyone's eyes grew wide at this. Drake then immediately touched the wall as well, and he disappeared too!
(Gwen and Gasper)
"WHAT THE FUUUUCK?!" The siblings shouted.
Gwen then tried to touch the barrier as well before Gasper held her back.
"What the hell, bro?!" Gwen shouted.
"We don't know where we'll end up if we fucking go in there," said Gasper calmly, "It's better if we keep our asses here. Plus, they're much better built to take this sort of thing than we are."
Gwen hated having to do this, but she knew Gasper was right.
(Andrew)
When Andrew reappeared, he was in a strange place. There was no ground below, just a beige expanse. In front of him, there were thin platforms, flying eyeball enemies, grind rails, etc. Andrew, alarmed at this, looked around for his friends, but no one else was there.
"Crap, guess I'll have to do this on my own!" Andrew said worriedly.
(Drake)
When Drake and Alter reappeared, they were somewhere similar to where Andrew was, except the layout was different. Plus, there were spinning columns this time. Drake slowly looked around but found no one else except for Alter, who shook his blank head.
Suddenly regret going in recklessly like that, don't you?
Drake shrugged his big shoulders. Alter sighed.
Guess we have to go on our own from here.
Drake looked down at the empty expanse below.
"...Or I could just... jump...," he said.
Alter groaned.
And what about Andrew?
Drake wheezily sighed. Alter had a point.
(Andrew and Drake Separate)
MISSION START!
(Andrew's Song: Final Rush from Sonic Adventure 2)
(Drake's Song: Final Chase from Sonic Adventure 2)
The level was pretty challenging for both Andrew and Drake, though more for Drake. For Andrew, he switched to his Rainbow Devil form. He thought it might make the level a breeze. Unfortunately, a magic force restricted Andrew's flight and made it so that he could only glide, much to his dismay. As for the stage, there were flying eyeball enemies of different sizes. They weren't that bad to deal w/ but, oddly enough, they disappeared in a puff of smoke! As for the terrain, Andrew had to jump and glide from far platform to platform. For the grind rails, Andrew had to jump off hard at the very end to get to faraway spots. At some points, there would be purple glass panes that would transport Andrew to different parts of the level when touched! For Drake, his version of the stage was similar but harder at the same time. For one, Drake had to use grapple points a lot to progress, especially after rail jumping. For another, Drake had to deal w/ spinning gravity beams. These things had a weakish pull, and Drake had to staggeringly run on them as they spun! Some went forward, while others went up and down to different paths. Oddly enough, Drake didn't get badly wounded for once, much to his disappointment and Alter's relief. As for new weapons, monster Drake had gotten a red guitar, and human Drake got purple bombs, much to Drake and Alter's confusion. After a long, arduous while, Andrew and Drake reached the last glass pane. When they were transported, this time, the twosome were in a different part of the valley. There was a purple barrier behind them. When Andrew and Drake looked around, they noticed that the other person was w/ them! Andrew beamed.
"Drake!" He shouted.
Andrew then tackled the giant w/ a hug, his strength meaning nothing. Drake gave Andrew his trademark sad look w/ a ghost of...relief?
"...Are you...ok...?" Drake asked quietly.
Andrew stepped back and gave Drake a look of surprise and happiness.
"Yes, are you?"
Drake shook his head while shuffling forward.
"...My okayness...doesn't...matter...," Drake replied.
Andrew sighed.
I really hope we can work on that, He thought while following behind Drake.
After moving forward a bit, they came across...the boss? It was a young-looking shorty wearing a witch's outfit. Their hat covered their eyes and, a small broom was visible from behind. As for complexion, the child had Latino-like skin w/ bits of black corruption.
"Uh, I don't think I'm ok w/ fighting a child...," said Andrew.
Said child then summoned some glass panes, flew up, and two purple spots shone under the hat. Andrew and Drake quickly readied their weapons.
"Never mind, I guess," said Andrew.
FIGHT START!
(Song: Otherworldly Foe from Earthbound)
When Andrew and Drake looked back on this fight some time in the future, they had to admit it was their favorite. The young witch teleported around the area, throwing out purple glass panes and shards all the while. The little bugger also concentrated their magic in a way that allowed them to pick up either Andrew or Drake! Unfortunately for them, they could only pick up one at a time to throw, which left the other an opening! The magic itself was also used to send out blasts. As for the panes, the boss could hide in them. Whenever they did this, they'd shoot out a lot of shards and explosive magic. Despite how hard the fight was, Andrew couldn't help but enjoy himself. The attacks were pleasing to look at, and they were fun to dodge! For Drake, he ended up getting some minor cuts, but it wasn't anything too serious. Eventually, though, the boss finally went down at 1%!
VICTORY!
A black substance oozed out of the witch kid. Once it was done, the blob vanished.
Do these stupid things have a fricking end?! Andrew thought angrily.
Some purple magic then began to fly out of the witch and flew into Drake. After that, the boss got up and adjusted their hat and broom.
"Hello?" the child asked.
From the voice, Andrew and Drake could tell it was a boy.
"I'm sorry, but what happened," he asked.
"You were possessed, and you blocked people from entering the valley," replied Andrew.
The boy's mouth hung open.
"Oh, no! My magic is supposed to help people, not that!"
The boy then began to mutter something under his breath. Suddenly, Andrew and Drake felt a slight rumble. When they looked back, the purple barrier suddenly disintegrated! When it was gone, the twosome could see Gwen, Gasper, and Akuku in the distance.
"Well, dang, we didn't even go that far!" said Andrew.
The twosome then turned back to the boss.
"Before we go, what's your name?" Andrew asked.
The kid smiled.
"My name is Nesten. My job is to help people w/ spiritual issues."
Andrew smiled back.
"Well, good luck w/ that. :]."
Nesten waved at the twosome as they ran back to their starting point.
"Did you fix the problem?" Akuku asked.
Andrew and Drake nodded. Akuku beamed. He then pulled out some money and handed it to the twosome. Drake, as per usual, gave his to Andrew.
"$40?" Andrew asked.
Akuku nodded. Andrew stuffed both payouts in different pockets, as usual.
"Thank you. I hope you can sort your issue out."
Akuku waved at the twosome as they walked towards Gwen and Gasper. Akuku then walked over to Nesten in the distance.
"Sorry, we didn't go in w/ you," Gwen said w/ a pained expression.
"We weren't sure how safe it fucking was," said Gasper, "While we were worried about you two, at the same time, we decided it was better to fucking fall back. We don't expect any money."
Andrew sighed.
"It's alright, we understand. Plus, it would've been too dangerous for you two anyway, considering where we went to."
Andrew then held out his hands. Once the siblings had grabbed them, and Drake slowly took the right shoulder, Andrew twitched his tail, and the quadrio disappeared.
"Not to be rude, but you look kinda weird in a dress," Gwen had said honestly while backstage.
