Nina woke in the early afternoon, stretching as she stood. She shook out her fur then headed towards the nearest waterhole for a drink, nothing of much was happening and not many animals were there, but she still kept her eyes out, as the waterhole was the perfect place for crocs to hang about. Suddenly some movement in the water caught her attention, her drinking slowed, ears pointed forwards as she watched. She was getting herself ready to run when out popped a lion head!
"Gah!" Nina called out as she started coughing, swallowing water the wrong way.
"Hi!" The lion in front of her said.
"What are.. you.. doing?" She asked curiously as she tried to get her breath back.
"What do you mean, 'what are you doing?', I'm a fish!" The male lion said rather excitedly.
"Fish?" Nina shook her head, "No.. you're a lion! Lion's don't like water!"
"Lion?" He looked back and down at himself, "Right! Lion! And fish! I love water! I also look like a fish see?" He turned around in the water, kicking around to spin, showing off the uniqueness that was his fur colouring. Like a koi fish.
"Riiight..."
"The name is Khoi, I'm a fi-lion... who loves water. And you?"
"Nina, a saber-lion who loves water too, but I don't live in it. How is it, though?"
Khoi gave her a wide grin and swam close enough to reach out and drag her into the water. "Like this!"
They both started laughing and swimming around before going under. Then Nina was able to see all of his markings, what a handsome lion.
