After the absolute beauty that was Christmas, Grey and Cedric ended up growing closer. They pretty much did what they usually did afterward, but w/ more blushes and smiles. Along w/ that, they pretty much stayed in each other's company all the time! Cedric even introduced Grey to showering together! While it was strange at first, the pair quickly grew accustomed to it and enjoyed it. As for Grey and Cedric's wedding, Cedric explained that he planned to marry Grey in about three months.
"The reason why is because I want to have the wedding when it's nice and warm," Cedric had explained.
Grey, disappointed that the wedding couldn't happen sooner, understood Cedric's reasoning. One weird thing that Cedric had been doing during that time was measuring Grey. When Grey asked why Cedric was doing it, he replied that Grey would find out soon enough. As for Azrael and Asmodeus, it took Cedric between 2 weeks to come to a decision w/ them. After thinking about it for a while, Cedric finally decided.
"Grey," Cedric said one afternoon.
Grey looked up from his book (it was the last book in the Heroes of Olympus series).
"Yes?"
"Remember your suggestion about Azrael and Asmodeus?"
"Yes, why?" Grey asked.
"Well..., I've thought about what you said about letting Azrael and Asmodeus living w/ us," Cedric said.
Grey looked at him w/ wide eyes.
"I've thought a lot about it, and I've decided.... They can live w/ us," Cedric said.
"You mean it?" Grey asked.
"Yeah, I mean, you did make a lot of good points about them. Plus, it'd be nice to have immediate help."
"Immediate help?"
Cedric shook his head.
"I'll explain it when the time comes," Cedric replied cryptically.
...
Three months had passed since that Christmas. During that time, Grey's chest problems had diminished to the point of being nearly nonexistent. He was still exempt from missions due to fear of putting too much strain on his chest. As for holidays, the first was New Year's. It was pretty dull, and the only somewhat worthwhile thing that happened was that the year's number went up by one. The second was Valentine's Day. This one was more interesting as anyone who had love for someone else expressed it that day. Grey and Cedric got each other heart-shaped chocolates. Cherry and Polychrome Ben got each other candy bags. Lastly, Azrael and Asmodeus wrote each other friend cards. Eventually, March came and brought spring w/ it. On March 15, it was finally time for the wedding.
...
As the sun was beginning to peak up, Cedric quickly (and VERY gingerly) got up before Grey could. When he came into the living room, everyone else was there too.
"So..., we all know the game plan?" Cedric asked.
Everyone except for Azrael and Asmodeus nodded. Azrael raised his hand.
"Ugh, yes?"
"Um, what are we doing, exactly?" Azrael asked.
Cedric sighed.
"Grey and I are getting married today. While you guys set everything up, Grey and I will be apart w/ someone, getting ready for the big moment."
"Heh heh, well, what do you want us to do?" Asmodeus asked.
"Well, Cherry is going to help me get ready," Cedric said.
"Damn right, I will!" Cherry said while putting her arm around her half brother.
"As for you two, Asmodeus, could you please help the others set up the festivities?"
"HEH HEH AND YOU TRUST ME TO HELP W/ SOMETHING THIS BIG?"
Cedric busted out laughing.
"Fuck no, but at least the others can watch over you as you help. Though, if you can manage not to fuck up, I will, admittedly, be grateful."
Asmodeus got a bit of a shocked expression at that.
"As for Azrael, can you please go w/ Grey to help him prepare?"
"And you trust me to do that?"
"I mean, I still don't fully trust you, but I trust you enough at this point," Cedric replied.
Azrael's eyes grew wide, and he put a hand on his chest in surprise.
"HAH HAH, WHERE WILL THIS TAKE PLACE?" Asmodeus asked.
"There's a beautiful field full of low plants just outside of the city. You know where the facility that had your book was?"
Azrael and Asmodeus nodded.
"Well, this field is on the opposite side. Azrael, I will text Grey when we're ready," Cedric explained.
"Um, I have one question," Azrael said.
"Yes?"
"Is this going to be like the birthday party where we kept Grey in the dark until the end?"
"Oh, HELL, no. Explain everything to Grey. I DO NOT want my future husband to be ignorant about this. The only thing is that he and I can't see each other."
"HEH, WHY?" Asmodeus asked.
"It's a wedding superstition. The two people getting married will have bad luck if they see each other before being wed," Azrael explained.
"Ok, are we just going to stand here, or are we going to get this thing started?" Polychrome Benjamin asked w/ a smile while lighting a cigarette.
...
A while later, Grey woke up. He was disappointed that Cedric was gone, but he didn't get too upset over considering what happened the last time Cedric did this. After Grey freshened up in the bathroom and he'd clothed himself, he found Azrael standing in the hall.
"Good, you're decent. Now," Azrael said while putting his arm around Grey, "let's get you ready for your big day."
Grey, mildly uncomfortable, was incredibly confused at that.
"Big day? What's so special about today?" He asked.
Azrael let go of him.
"It's your wedding day. While everyone else is getting the festivities ready, my job is to get you prepared for the big moment."
A blush crept up to Grey's cheeks, and his eyes grew wide.
"Wait..., that day is today?" Grey asked dazedly.
"Yes, and we should get going now."
Azrael then grabbed Grey's hand and led him to the kitchen. On the table, a sandwich along w/ some milk were waiting. As for the others, no one else was in the base apart from Grey and Azrael.
"Are those for me?" Grey asked.
Azrael nodded.
"Eat up quick. We have a lot to do."
Grey quickly made his way to the table. As fast he could, he chomped down the sandwich (which had ham and cheese) and swallowed the milk. Once he was done, he followed Azrael out through the door.
"Um, can you teleport?" Grey asked.
"Sadly, no. Since I was a lesser angel, my magic isn't nearly as good as Asmodeus'. But, I do have another idea. Though, keep in mind, this might be a bit uncomfortable."
Before Grey could ask, Azrael flapped his wings and flew over Grey. He then reached his hands down.
"Are you sure you can carry me?" Grey asked, thinking about how heavy he was.
Azrael gave him a miffed look.
"Bitch, did you forget that I literally lifted you up w/ ease when we fought?" He asked impatiently.
Grey, combing his memory, realized that Azrael was right.
"Oh, right, you did."
Grey then grabbed onto Azrael's wrists.
"Ok, make sure to hold on tight."
Azrael then flew up a bit higher. For Grey, it was a bit frightening to be up like this, but he kept himself in check. As Azrael, while he had to admit that lifting Grey felt like holding up a bowling ball, he didn't struggle too much. Once the two had adjusted to this, Azrael quickly flew forward. While Azrael wasn't really affected by this type of flight as it wasn't too different from what he did on missions, flying like this was something else entirely for Grey. While he vaguely remembered how it felt to be airborne from when he fought Asmodeus, this felt very different in comparison. As Azrael zipped through the streets and narrow passages, cars, lights, trash containers, etc., whizzed by. During this, Grey couldn't help but feel both scared yet awed at the same time. After a while, the two reached the shop that was titled: "Beastad's Bridal and Formalwear."
When the two reached the ground, Grey swooned around a bit before finally reorienting himself.
"Here we are," Azrael said as he lowered himself.
"Why are we-?"
"Cedric ordered you an outfit in advance here," Azrael interrupted, "Let's go in and get it."
When the two stepped into the store, Grey wasn't sure how to feel about it. Inside, the place mainly had two kinds of outfits. The first was a black-and-white combo that seemed very formal and serious-looking. The other was more pretty and fluffy-looking. It was big, flowing, and came in different colors. A man wearing a white shirt w/ a strange brown covering and a blue strip similar to what Ash had in his outfit came up to the two.
"Hello, gentleman," he said in a polite tone, "How may I help you today?"
"My companion's lover ordered him a tux, and we'd like to pick it up," Azrael explained.
"Sure. What's the number and email put on the order?"
After Azrael told the man these things, he smiled and clapped his hands together.
"Excellent. We've been holding that tuxedo in the back. Come."
He then led Grey and Azrael to the back. He then stepped into a room and, after a bit, came back w/ two black things attached to a hanger and two small boxes.
"Here you go," the man said as he handed the items to Grey and Azrael.
Grey then gave Azrael a confused look.
"Um, could we use two of your fitting rooms?" Azrael asked.
"Of course. The fitting rooms are right over there," the man replied while pointing to the other side of the store.
"Thank you," Azrael replied.
He then led Grey over to the sheeted things on the other side.
"Ok, there's an outfit in the black wrapping and shoes in the box," Azrael explained, "Step into the changing room and change into them."
Grey timidly pulled the sheet back from a small space and stepped in.
...
After a while of confusion and slight stress, Grey finally changed into the tux and shoes. When he looked in the mirror, Grey had no idea how to feel. The tux and shoes were slightly uncomfortable, and Grey had to keep the front of the tux undone due to it feeling a bit too tight. As for what he liked about the attire, Grey couldn't help but blush at the fact that Cedric had thought to make any part that wasn't black or white gray! As for Grey's usual clothes, he'd folded them up and put his shoes on top.
My, I look so weird, Grey thought.
After a bit of staring at his reflection, Grey hesitantly stepped out to re-meet Azrael. When Azrael saw him, his eyes grew wide.
"What is it? Do I look bad?" Grey asked nervously.
"I mean, I personally think you usually don't look all that great, but I got to admit, you look pretty decent," Azrael replied.
Grey got a bit of an unsure look at that. As for Azrael, he looked more well-put-together in his outfit. Azrael then clapped his hands together.
"Now that we've gotten that done, and since Cedric still hasn't called, we have some time until the actual wedding. Let's travel around a bit until then, ok?"
Grey nodded, wanting to make the time go quicker. Azrael, in response, quickly walked over to the entrance w/ Grey following close behind.
...
For a while, Grey and Azrael just spent time wandering around the city. The two had dropped Grey's usual clothes off at the base. They didn't really have any sort of direction to where they were going. They mainly just went from place to place aimlessly for a while w/ Azrael sometimes peeking into windows to find a good job. Eventually, the two settled on the library. For Grey, this was pretty commonplace because he went there frequently w/ Cedric. As for Azrael, it felt VERY awkward to be back there after so long. For one, Azrael hadn't been in the library in months, and two, Asmodeus wasn't here for once. As such, things were pretty weird for Azrael. Things weren't much better for Grey, however, because he got strange looks due to his attire. Unsurprisingly, when Cedric finally called at 12:00, Grey and Azrael quickly rushed out of the building.
"Hello?" Grey asked into the phone.
"Where are you at the moment?" Cedric asked.
"At the library, why?" Grey asked.
"The wedding is ready. I'm sending Asmodeus to get you and Azrael."
Before Grey or Azrael could respond, Asmodeus quickly popped out of nowhere. He wore a strangely formal outfit similar to Azrael's except bigger.
"Oh, hey," Azrael said.
"HEH," Asmodeus replied.
He then immediately clasped their shoulders and teleported the trio. On the other side, the three ended up in a green place w/ lots of pleasant shades and some trees. There were some chairs set up, and four of the Freelancers sitting in them. There were also two dark, horned people that Grey didn't recognize sitting as well. Two empty chairs were there too, and they were quickly claimed as Azrael and Asmodeus teleported to them. Lastly, Grey noticed that there were white tables that had food, drinks, and gifts. After he noted all these things, Grey finally looked forward, and his breath was stolen. At the front of the place, there was a green, circular thing coming from the floor, and it had a white tied stip on it. Underneath, Cherry stood in the center. She looked quite pretty in her frilly black outfit. In her left hand, Cherry held a thick-looking book. To her left, however, was the most breathtaking thing Grey'd ever seen. It was Cedric, but he had on a similar attire to Grey's. The only difference was that Cedric's neck thing was blue, and he had a blue thing on his chest. While Cedric usually looked great, now... he looked STUNNING. As Grey stood speechless, Cedric gestured w/ his fingers for him to come forward. Grey, still somewhat entranced, slowly made his way over to his love. As he did, everyone turned toward Grey and gave a smile. When Grey got a closer look at the horned monsters, he noticed that the thicker one had dark blue eyes and his horns were very squiggly. The thinner one had small horns and long, wavy red hair. Grey quickly realized that they were Cedric and Cherry's parents. When the man made eye contact w/ Grey, he gave Grey a closed smile and a thumb up. After that little moment, Grey stepped over to the green half-circle and stood opposite to Grey.
"So, can we finally get this shitty thing started?" Cherry asked w/ a smirk.
"Yes, bitch," Cedric replied.
Everyone else giggled at this.
"Ok, let's get this shitfest over w/. Bitches and dicks, we are gathered here today to witness the wedding of these two fuckers. Cedric, do you take Grey to be your husband/wife?"
Cedric's parents gave a confused look at that.
"I do," Cedric said dreamily.
"And Grey, do you take my half brother to be your shitty husband?" Cherry asked Grey.
"I... I-I do!" Grey replied w/ a nervous smile.
"Ok, now the rings," Cedric whispered to Cherry.
Cherry then pulled out two circles. One was gray while the other was blue, and the gray one was bigger. Cedric took the gray ring, grabbed Grey's right hand, and slid the ring onto Grey's third finger. Grey, quick to figure things out, grabbed the other ring and slid it onto Cedric's left third finger.
"Genial. Now, you may kiss the spouse!"
Cherry then quickly strode off. Cedric then slid his fingers into Grey's, and he then gave his lover a dreamy smile.
"Ready for the next level?" Cedric whispered.
Grey hesitated. He thought of everything he'd been through w/ this beautiful man. Grey thought of all the missions, the kisses, the hugs, the tears, the hardships, etc. He then thought of spending the rest of his life w/ this same person. A blush spread over Grey's face.
"Honestly, I don't know. But, as long I'm w/ you..., I think things will be alright," Grey responded.
Cedric, in response, smiled and wrapped his arms around Grey, who he pulled in for a passionate kiss. At this, everyone burst into loud clapping and cheering! While Grey thought at first that the Christmas kiss was amazing, this one was something else entirely! As Grey and Cedric pressed close to each other, Grey could feel bright, pleasant energy surround them.
I can't believe we'll be together forever, Grey thought happily.
Then, suddenly, Grey and Cedric heard a collective gasp from almost everyone. Confused, Cedric broke their kiss. When he looked at Grey again, his eyes widened, and his jaw dropped. Grey gave him a confused look.
"What?" Grey asked before covering his mouth.
His voice sounded much more echoey than usual!
"Y-You're... y-y-you're...," Cedric sputtered.
Grey, heavily confused, took his hands off his mouth. When he looked down at them, he gasped as well. His hands were now white!
"Oh, no, it can't be!" Grey muttered.
He then looked over his shoulder, and his fears were confirmed. Two large, rainbow-colored wings had sprouted from his back once again!
"Oh God...," Grey muttered.
...
What came after the wedding (which was called a "reception") was... something to say the very least. At first, everyone swarmed Grey w/ questions and fascination until Cedric finally managed to get them under control. After Cedric intervened, everyone did calm down, but Grey still got some odd looks. Everyone ended up turning their attention to the food and drink afterward, though. After the surprise wore off, though, Cedric's parents came up to the newlyweds and greeted Grey.
"Hello!" the male demon said in a rough voice while clasping Grey's hand, "Name's Patrick, and this is my wife, Kitty!"
"Hola, puta," Kitty said in a somewhat deeper version of Cherry's voice.
"Welcome to the Anodyne family! :}" Patrick exclaimed.
Grey got a bewildered look at that.
"Anodyne?" Grey asked.
Patrick then gave Cedric a look.
"You didn't give him your last name?"
"I was waiting for when we got married!" Cedric replied defensively.
Patrick sighed.
"Last name?" Grey asked as he let go of Patrick's hand.
Kitty, clearly finished w/ the conversation, went over to see Cherry.
"Our family's last name is Anodyne. And now, so is yours," Patrick explained.
Grey gave him a confused look.
"Dad, it was fun talking to you, but we'd like some time to ourselves," Cedric said as he began to lead Grey away.
"Wait, hey-" Patrick began.
Cedric immediately shot him a deadly look. Patrick quickly backed off and moved away.
"What did he mean by Anodyne being my last name?" Grey asked when Patrick was well enough away.
"When you get married, typically the person in the role of the "wife," in this case, you, has their last name changed to that of the "husband," Cedric explained.
"So, my new last name is Anodyne now?" Grey asked.
"I mean, considering that you don't have either a last or middle name to go by, yeah."
"Middle name?"
"Sometimes, parents give their children a middle name alongside the last one," Cedric explained.
"Do you have one?" Grey asked.
"As a matter of fact, yes, I do. It's Solomon."
Grey's brow furrowed at that.
"Your name is Cedric Solomon Anodyne?"
"Yes," Cedric replied w/ a smile, "And now, you're Grey Anodyne."
Grey wasn't sure how to feel about that.
"So..., can you explain... this?" Cedric said while gesturing towards Grey's wings.
...
After Grey explained his form, the reception that followed was pretty great. The food and drinks were great, and everyone (except for Oliver) had fun conversing w/ at least one other person. As for the best part, it was the cake. It was tall, and it was black and blue on one side, and the other side had different shades of brown. On top, there were small versions of Grey and Cedric in wedding attire. As for taste, it was somehow better than the rainbow birthday cake! The only part of the evening that felt pretty awkward was Asmodeus kept giving Grey some creepy stares.
...
After the reception was over and everybody had gone home as well as returned their outfits, and Grey and Cedric had gone back to their room, Cedric hugged Grey. Grey's angelic form had thankfully disappeared after a while. He slid his hands over his husband/wife's body.
"Finally," Cedric whispered.
Grey couldn't help but smile and blush. After a bit, Cedric let go.
"Now that we're married... tomorrow it'll be time to go."
Grey gave him a sad look.
"Is it really that soon?" Grey asked.
Cedric pulled him close.
"Yes. Tomorrow, we're going," Cedric said.
Grey grew silent.
"Have you changed your mind about going?"
"What? No. It's just that... I'm going to miss this place," Grey said.
Cedric smiled sympathetically.
"Honestly, I will too. But, it's not like we'll completely leave this place behind," Cedric said.
Grey pulled back and gave him a confused look.
"We'll still be able to contact and visit the others at any time we wish," Cedric told him.
Grey pursed his stitched lips at that. Cedric then leaned in and gave Grey another mouth kiss.
"Let's just enjoy the rest of the day while we still have it," Cedric said after the kiss broke.
Grey nodded.
After the absolute beauty that was Christmas, Grey and Cedric ended up growing closer. They pretty much did what they usually did afterward, but w/ more blushes and smiles.
