06/29 Update: Pronoun indicators added to the refsheet!
After several years of having many OCs I have finally tackled the long, arduous task of creating actual reference sheets for them. Some of my OCs stayed pretty much the same, some have minor adjustments, some have major rehauls of them!
These reference sheets took a VERY long time to do since each one had so many things to consider when adding them. it may have taken me a while but since I've been meaning to actually make them for quite a while now, it's good that I finally got that off my shoulders. u//u (And before anyone asks, I don't plan on taking commissions for reference sheets like these any time soon, sorry to disappoint! ^^;;)
The next one on the list is probably my biggest overhaul of an OC yet - my sea-faring boy Alek. I've honestly been meaning to retcon parts of him for a long time now but have always hesitated, since, well, change is scary sometimes yaknow? But now I've finally decided to jump ahead and go with it. The following has been changed or updated for his larger form-
- He is now a sea monster, but without the dragon association. A kaiju of sorts.
- Design-wise, scales cover his entire body instead of having some spots remain bare-skinned. His tail has been re-tweaked a little, and I also included some things from the old character design's anthro form like the horns and claws. I also added some new stuff like bioluminescent spots on his body now!
The biggest change however will be that his anthro form, which I have used for AUs, will effectively be retired until I can figure out what to do with him. I know this might be a little disappointing for some since I know some of you liked him, but since I really was unsure on what direction to use for this OC I thought this would be a first step forward in actually using him for stuff. That being said, the change from dragon to kaiju is something I really wanted to do, so it's a start, and I hope y'all will be cool with this retconning! ^^;;
Name: Alek Dryagan
Species: Kaiju / Sea Monster
Age: Unknown (Appears 18-19 in human years)
Height: 19.8m / 65’
Personality: Alek more often than not a perpetual introverted grump, preferring to be left to his own devices and avoiding large crowds and gatherings. He has a temper and can easily get irritated. In this monster form, he still maintains his aggressive nature, but gains more of a hunter’s instinct when in the water.
Basic Lore: Alek comes from a long line of sea monsters who used to ravage seas with brutal storms and terrorize both sailors and coastal villages alike. Some called them sea dragons, others sea titans...However, as centuries pass and the worlds’ oceans become heavier with human traffic and more polluted, Alek must adapt to living amongst humankind, despite wishing to live in the sea full-time once again. His true potential to be a ruthless sea beast who can turn oceans into raging stormy seascapes still lays dormant…
Trivia:
- Voice Claim: Bryce Pappenbrook
- He is both capable of human speech and producing animalistic roars.
- While he is an occasional man-eater, he finds the idea of prey who are willing to be devoured to be off-putting. His preferred prey are fish and sea mammals.
- He doesn’t go out of his way to engage with humans in this form (for example, harassing fishing ships for no good reason), but will not hesitate to attack if provoked, or if he is hungry and has not had any luck catching other prey.

This new Kaiju look for him is badass, and those bioluminescent markings are so damn cool

It's official, I love this new kaiju look you've made for Alek a bunch, homie. His body almost looks tribal, and the smoke and energy breath beams make him that much more Kaiju-y.
Plus now he looks way more dangerous, which suits his "do not phuck with me or my sea ever again" thing.
Ngl these retcons seem to be for the best cuz his look is that much more baller and he seems to have more of a "fuck this, leave me to my feeshing" thing going which makes him more endearing imho.

One design choice that always stayed with him were the tiger-shark motifs with stripes and stuff. Plus it would make sense since all those blue stripes would camouflage him!
He may be dangerous but he does tend to keep to himself! Kinda like most wild animals really - if you don't provoke them they'll most likely leave you alone. :)

the new look is amazing. He feels so much more connected to the sea, if that makes sense? Drawing his power from the water, the bioluminescence and steam, etc. He's looking great!
Yeah! Being all-blue really helps his cause and gives him that real sea-monster look I was going for. :3

He looks a mix of monster verse and pacific rim kaiju's. I personally love his appearance!
