Vitch's greatest fear at this point is not losing his own life, but losing his friend for a second time. Still feeling much guilt over what had happened to his friend many years ago, Vitch now has one purpose: to ensure his friend is able to live out the rest of his life, even if that means sacrificing his own.
While exploring the many regions of the Afterlife, the two have found themselves in the presence of a dragon. Vitch has managed to summon enough courage to do what it takes to protect his friend. However, the two have not yet realized that dragons in this world are not threatening. Dragons in the Afterlife live forever. They tend to spend many years sleeping. Now and then, they will awake and travel the world. They will analyze what has changed and seek out new knowledge before returning to their long slumber. The dragon that stands before the two rodents has no intention of harming them; he simply wants to guide them to safety. While dragons are harmless, there are many creatures in the Afterlife that are very dangerous and should be avoided.
Your courage is admirable young Vitch, but it is not needed today.

Absolutely stunning commissions, I'm happy for you it came out so nicely in the end :) As I already told you the lighting with the emphasis on Kuro is brilliant, and the red on his scales give a wonderful touch.
The story accompanying the picture gives great insight on the scene. Kuro may not mean any harm and he doesn't really look menacing, yet... his expression may scare more than one. Thus I'm not surprised the two rodents reacted this way.
Awesome piece ^^

Kuro just wants to meet some new friends, fly them somewhere safe and warm and then maybe sleep for 80 years. XD
I like it! Without the accompanying story, one would expect a more stereotypical outcome. As one of the analytical knowledge seekers, I appreciate this outlook.
Thanks.
Nice to hear someone appreciates the story that goes with the piece.

So dragons here are something like silent vanguards or guardians? How interesting.
And I like the big ... I dunno how to properly put it into words. The stark contrast to that predator-prey clichee. Big dragon and small rodents, yet instead of enemies they can be friends. Wished there was more art like that.
