Mirage decided to finish Guard robot's ref and I finally decided to upload it alongside more info about Guard.
Guard is a sentient machine that experiences emotions, designed by E.A.I.S. as an experiment to see how a machine with emotions would perform. Guard is an M.I., a Machine Intelligence not artificially created, meaning he was not given any previous memories or knowledge. Just like a creature though, his body was created, but the mind was only given life, experiences, memories, and knowledge are all for Guard himself to gather.
This procedure makes him very prone to adapt and learn from his environment, especially now learning from the entity that is almost always around him. Having learned peace along with evilness among other states. These 'emotional states' seen on the side I will describe more in detail below.
This robot form is not Guard's primary form, neither is it self-acting. Guard's actual form is the small experimental corvette he controls, housing the M.I. core. His robot form is remote-controlled via quantum channeling between the ship and the robot. Should the connection severe in any way, it would leave the robot form deactivated or idle. If one tried to move or 'interface' with his robotic form during this state, it would violently self-destruct, creating a blast large enough to blow up a residential building. This is a safety measure as E.A.I.S. does not want any of his technology in another being's hands.
If you are interested, here is how you 'read' from Guard's visor. You can see his response, but not actually know his thoughts this way:
Iris shapes:
No shape: No thought
dot on visor: Random thought
round/smooth/wave shapes: Side-thought
straight shapes: Constant thought
spiked shapes: Active thought
shapes between sensors: Deep thought
Iris and shape distances:
the closer shapes and irises are to the triangular middle of the 3 sensors, the deeper the thought. (for example, during the interest phase, spikes going inward show a deeper thought than spikes leading outward. The fear and depression phase always has irises and shapes close to the sensors).
shape difference:
Different irises can have multiple shapes in one. Each one as mentioned above meaning something else. One can see that during the aggressive phase, spiked shapes are closer to the center while rounder ones are outward on another iris meaning that Guard is actively thinking, perhaps about how to murder a creature while side-thoughts not related to the phase are outward on the other iris. He can still be spoken to because of that, possibly calmed down. There are no shapes between the sensors meaning there are no current deeper thoughts. If the entire visor was covered in spiked shapes, one can probably not even calm Guard down until he has completed his task.
iris and shape layering:
irises and layers closer to the center have a higher priority of thought while irises and shapes further outwards have less. The shapes always change, often creating multiple irises, though one is always closest to the triangular middle.
visor brightness:
The brighter the visor, the stronger the emotion, it can get blinding to look at should Guard for example feel very aggressive.
The only exception would be depression/sadness where the visor is always dark with low backlight, in this instance, the darker the visor, the stronger the emotion.
If the visor is entirely turned off as well as the sensors, it is either damaged or in most cases, used to be stealthy.
Brighter points:
Some points along an iris are brighter than the rest, these are thoughts especially of interest the Guard. The more of these there are, the more you can be sure you caught his interest in something.
color mixing:
Sometimes Guard can feel different emotions at once. For example, he could be aggressive and aroused at once, making him be rough during playtime. In this instance, the usual purple and red would combine into a pink.
However, the intensity of one emotion weighs the color more than the other, meaning if he was very rough during play, one could barely notice a difference in color to the usual red.
Depression/Sadness can't combine with any other color, it would always be black.
multiple irises at once:
The more irises Guard forms on his visor, the more thoughts are being processed at once. If the capacity of the visor should become 'overcrowded' with irises, Guard will make all of them smaller (like changing the resolution from 1080p to 4k). If Guard was intensely data-mining something and one looked onto his visor, it may look very hypnotic as there are thousands of them small enough to barely be seen, all moving individually.
shape distance between each other:
The closer the layer of another shape creating the iris-effect (within its resolution), the closer related that thought is to the other, this can even make other irises appear thicker than others.
shape movement and iris movement:
-> Movement of the shapes on the iris is normal, they always transform into another shape and it shows that these are conscious thoughts and not provided by for example E.A.I.S.
If E.A.I.S. was providing Guard with information directly, all shapes on his visor would not move or change instantly to different ones, sort of like creating symbols.
-> If the Iris itself is moving, it means that Guard wants to get rid of these thoughts but is unable to do so. Since he is a machine with emotion, his thought processing is similar to that of organic beings, just much more advanced. If Guard for example heard a catchy song and couldn't stop thinking about it, the iris related to it will shake and possibly offset to others, this is the only time where irises may overlap with each other. This has no meaning for distancing.
About the different emotions:
Blue: Neutral - no change/standard look (Visor standard activity, normal movement)
Red: Aggressive - legs extend, feet spread, arms split, armor plates rise everywhere. (Visor strongest activity, aggressive movements)
Green: Passive - no change/standard look (Visor standard activity, slow movements)
Black: Depressed/Sad - no change or armor plates press tighter against the body (Visor low or no activity, no movement)
Cyan: Fear/Shock - armor plates rise and lower interchangeably (Visor low to high activity, slow to strong movement)
Pink: Aroused - Any or no change is possible (Visor medium to high activity, medium movement)
Orange: Danger/Caution - Armor plates extend across the whole body, though not far (Visor high activity, slow movement)
Yellow: Interest/Thinking - Armor plates extend only at the top and sides of the head (Visor standard activity, strong movement)

Based on the description, the way they are controlled kinda reminds me of Warframe.
An interesting character concept and design, by the way!

I don't quite see how it is related to warframe? Guard isn't controlled by an operator, plus Guard is a proper machine. Guard's form housing the M.I. core is the ship, the robot is simply remote-controlled through that. So if the ship gets destroyed? So does the robot, no matter where it is located.
There's no reference sheet of the ship yet, though there are some images of the ship.

It looks so good, I love it! Idk why, but I also weirdly think that they're a bit...cute...? Still, love the design, also, just a quick question, what's their response will be like when they saw a human like me?
Thanks, yes, he is supposed to appear 'cute' at least as an overall design choice. He is getting a re-design right now, but either way, he possesses emotions, having had a past life that has been redacted. He was the one to choose how his body should look, which is why it does in this way. The lack of a proper face called for a compromise, having a change in colors instead. It is more efficient anyway.
Regarding meeting a human, I dunno, it would depend on how they behave. E.E.P.S. is not one to make friends with, though. His 'cute' looks are a gimmick. He is trained to be a ruthless killing machine by E.A.I.S., more deadly and dangerous than E.A.I.S. himself due to his volatile emotions making him unpredictable.

Woah, I'm quite amazed by that! That colour changing things is cool too!
Still, I'll definitely take note of that, guess I can't follow the same footsteps as Will anytime soon...:'/

Ooo, I like the robot’s design! Great work ^^
Doesn’t look intimidating or scary, just really really awesome~
