Dustin: welcome to another Woodfox Talks & Rants today we've got a special one for you guys [shows the DVD] Dexter's Laboratory! if you grew up when Cartoon Network was gaining traction after 1992 you'll remember the time in the mid 90's when Cartoon Network made a special program called What a Cartoon to showcase Cartoons that might get a chance to become the next big original for the channel and the first to come from that was of course Dexter's Laboratory in 1996 making it the channel's very first original animated program after Space Ghost: Coast to Coast
Blake; That's right. As you may already know, the series focuses on a young genius named Dexter, who despite his efforts to brighten the world with his inventions, has his inventions destroyed by his older sister Dee Dee.
Dustin: indeed however it was not the only show made here if you may remember this is also a Hanna-Barbera program and back then there were a few shows had special additions back in the early days of Hanna-Barbera so it wouldn't be just that one cartoon for an early example there's Huckleberry Hound with shorts of Pixie, Dixie & Mr. Jinks and Yogi Bear before he was replaced by Hokey Wolf after Yogi got his own show and for a modern example there's Two Stupid Dogs with Super Secret Secret Squirrel and of course Cow & Chicken with I Am Weasel but with Dexter's Laboratory there's two special segments it had during it's first season run and a small bit of season 2
Blake: The first one involves a lab pet of Dexter's Laboratory with a secret double life; Dial M for Monkey
Dustin: this one was pretty action packed yes the hero of this segment is of course a monkey but it makes up for it with good humor and amazing action scenes the second segment is The Justice Friends which features Major Glory, Valhallen & Krunk living together in an apartment like it's a sitcom and unlike Cartoon Network's current superhero cash cow it's actually funny!
Blake: So we ask, how do we rank how good they are? Well, we're here to show you that today ;)
Dustin: oh yeah because this is the Top 16 Dexter's Laboratory Spinoff Episodes why Top 16? well even though there is enough for a proper top 10 there still isn't that much for both segments Dial M for Monkey had 7 episodes and Justice Friends only had 9 episodes so we'll combine all of them into a top 16 and they'll be ranked from weakest to strongest [bad to good] even though really they're pracically the best parts of the show along with Dexter [outside of bad episodes he's made but we already made a list on his bad episodes]
Blake: So without further ado, let us begin
Part 1: Dial M For Monkey
[the opening of said segment starts up]
Dexter: after countless experiments all testing proves negative no enhanced abilities, no physical mutations, NO NOTHING! it seems you shall never become anything more than a mere monkey!
Honeydew: Monkey! This is Agent Honeydew! Help us!
[the theme song plays as Monkey glows into his hero costume showing the title of the show!]
Dustin: compared to the science aspect of Dexter's Laboratory this one is a more hero centric show since at the time there were shows being made that made superheroes epic from the Timm-verse like Batman the Animated Series and this was a pretty interesting idea as usually a monkey is a sidekick not a big hero but this proves EVERYONE wrong!
Blake: So Monkey (whose voice is provided by the incomparable Frank Welker), along with Agent Honeydew (voiced by Kath Soucie), set out to save the world from various enemies, whose names are often titles of the episodes
Dustin: oh yes and interestingly enough we'll begin with an episode not many people know about
Number 7: Barbequor - Season 1, Episode 4B
Dustin: in this episode it's Monkey's birthday and everyone is ready to celebrate not just Honeydew and the commander but also the Justice Friends however their party gets crashed by a Silver Surfer lookalike called Silver Spooner who takes their ketchup and mustard
Blake: He takes them to Barbequor a parody of Galactus, who plans to barbecue the planets of the Solar System
Dustin: Monkey attempts to try and stop them however his friends stop him telling him to relax since it's his birthday so first the commander sends his squad after them but they all get bug zapped then the Justice Friends head forth but they get bug sprayed so it's all up to Monkey after all
Blake: So Monkey, with unintentional help from the Silver Spooner, causes Barbequor to regurgitate his meal, giving him a lack of appetite for the planet Earth
Dustin: so the Earth along with the whole solar system is saved! ...and Monkey has to take a drunken Krunk home this episode was pretty interesting however i never saw this as a kid and there are a few reasons as to why for one it was due to the Silver Spooner like i said he was a parody of the Silver Surfer and Marvel probably came knocking that and he was acting very flamboyant in the whole episode most people would say "gay" plus there was the whole thing with Krunk getting drunk hey! i'm a poet and don't know it! XD as a result the episode was taken out of rerun airings and DVD releases with Double Trouble and the What a Cartoon! pilot Changes and was replaced with the Season 2 episode Dexter's Lab: A Story where Dexter takes care of a lost dog who turns into a major chatterbox
Blake: I've never seen this episode either, but I have heard a lot about it. But the concept of them celebrating Monkey's birthday is a nice touch :)
Number 6: Huntor - Season 1, Episode 6B
Blake: Now this episode was really intense. In this adventure, Monkey is called to a planet where a hunter challenges Monkey that he can catch him and make him his trophy
Dustin: the hunter here called Huntor played by Ed Gilbert is one scary Australian beast as such he uses special technology to avoid Monkey's many powers soon when they go into the jungle Monkey hides out and decides to not to fight Huntor with his powers but instead his primal instincts
Blake: Now that's actually a clever strategy, because it shows that you don't need to rely on your powers to get a job done; sometimes, you just need your brain.
Dustin: soon Monkey starts showing Huntor up even destroying some of his hunting equipment and soon Huntor sets his self destruct on the planet and tries to get away only to get dragged by Monkey and flown off the planet and get dropped onto another planet to get hunted himself by aliens XD oh the irony XD
Blake: As the old saying goes, the hunter has become the hunted. This episode had an exciting atmosphere :)
Dustin: oh yes and this isn't the only time Huntor has made an appearance he was also used on Samurai Jack at one point as one of the bounty hunters sent to get Jack's head for Aku
Blake: It's good to know Genndy Tartakovsky still keeps his old creations in mind :)
Number 5: Orgon Grindor - Season 1, Episode 5B
Dustin: in this episode Monkey comes over to Agent Honeydew's home for a dinner party yeah as you can tell these two have a very special connection and it's kinda cute and funny at the same time i ship it X3 however some weird music comes in and Monkey gets drifted away to an alien guy with a music box
Blake: the green-skinned Wario Lookalike needs Monkey in order to perform nefarious schemes, like robbing banks, and uses his grinder to hypnotize Monkey
Dustin: at first Monkey doesn't understand what Orgon Grindor wants and it's pretty funny but soon he takes Monkey to a bank and follows suit to rob it under hypnotisim much to the heartbroken dismay of Agent Honeydew luckily she does find out about the hypnotism
Blake: She's able to destroy the Organ Grindor's grinder with her laser, breaking the hypnotic spell that Monkey was under. In a fit of rage, the Organ Grindor attempts to crush Honeydew with gold bricks, but Monkey saves her by melting the gold, trapping the Organ Grindor in a golden statue-state
Dustin: this leads to a sweet and funny ending the sweet is where Monkey about to cry after what he did under the Grindor's spell is comforted by Honeydew as they fly home and the funny is where the trio of friends which includes the commander are going to have some banana pudding with raisins only for the commander to be reminded that he's trapped in the TV XD
Blake: Wah wah.
Number 4: Peltra - Season 2, Episode 33B
Blake: Okay, imagine meeting a character who's a cross between Ursula from the Little Mermaid and Cruella de Vil from 101 Dalmatians? You get Peltra, intergalactic fashionista
Dustin: this happens to be the only Dial M for Monkey episode in the second season as both segments were being less used in favor of more Dexter a weird choice but eh it happened anyway Peltra gets a want for Monkey's fur so she along with her Goons [the not Horace & Jasper] Tanner & Skinner go forth and imprison Monkey along with Agent Honeydew who Peltra will regret imprisoning as you'll soon see
Blake: Honeydew, using her agile nimbleness and a skeleton key in her boot, sets herself free from her shackles, and throws a bucketful of paint on Monkey's fur, giving him a rather lovely shade of raspberry. Honeydew and Monkey then beat up Tanner and Skinner, and humiliates Peltra for her lack of real hair
Dustin: soon after they get away Monkey is back in the lab giving his painted fun a shave and Dexter writes it down XD for this being the only Season 2 Dial M for Monkey episode not counting Quackor the Fowl it's fairly interesting and Dee Dee Rescher does a nice job as Peltra
Blake: Indeed; this episode also shows how much Monkey and Honeydew care about each other :)
Dustin: agreed :-)
Number 3: Magmanamus - Season 1, Episode 1B
Dustin: the one that started it all and the human characters look fairly realistic here with the obvious exception of Dexter in this episode a noisy day in the city awakens a sleepy lava monster this gets him pissed off and he surfaces! at first he asks nicely for the people to be quiet and if you've ever seen the Powerpuff Girls you'll see that their reaction to a giant lava monster with monster voice is no different
Blake: So Monkey is called to save the day from Magmanamus, voiced by Brad Garrett. He's so distressed for peace and quiet that he gives Monkey a powerful punch into the ground. This upsets the citizens, and chants Monkey's name in the hopes that he's okay
Dustin: the chanting also upsets Magmanamus however he's not in a big rage he sounds more desperate to get some sleep in this pretty long speech about sleep all the while Monkey after his blow rocks him back to sleep
Blake: It seems to work, and Monkey is tired out. The crowd cheers... until...
Magmanamus: Quiet!
Blake: Cue Monkey fainting. Boy, I wouldn't blame him
Dustin: while the realistic designs of the humans are weird i can't fault the episode for still being epic and pretty sweet at the end also it's common knowledge that Lava is supposed to be fiery and i haven't seen Magmanamus burn anything up maybe his tired nature keeps him from burning everything? IDK cartoon logic is weird
Number 2: Simion - Season 1, Episode 3B
Blake: Man, this episode really makes you think. In it, Monkey encounters a primate that acts more like a human named Simion
Dustin: voiced by Maurice LaMarche best known for playing the Brain in Pinky & the Brain Simion has a problem with Man or Man has a problem with him as he tells in a long amazing backstory he was planned to be the first monkey in space however a crack in the ship's hull made an explosion that hurled him into a radioactive energy belt
Blake: This radiation raised his intelligence, and he's become more creative with his powers. He hopes for Monkey to join him, but Monkey remembers the goodness that Honeydew has shown him
Dustin: as such Monkey gives Simion the one thing that changes his mind about man... a banana
Blake: So Simion abandons his hopes of conquering mankind and longs to connect with his inner primate once again. Monkey takes Simion to a jungle planet where Simion lives life as an actual primate; singing in ooks and eeks, swinging on vines, and even ripping off most of his clothes
Dustin: this was a pretty cool episode Maurice LaMarche does an amazing performance as Simion and the backstory he tells is amazing with that voice :D
Blake: Very; you gotta love their dynamic.
Number 1: Rasslor - Season 1, Episode 2B
Dustin: this episode is number 1 for a few reasons one it's technically the introduction of the Justice Friends at least some of them including the main 3 we'd see later and two this episode's guest star as the villain the late "Macho Man" Randy Savage!
Randy Savage: Oh, yeah!
Blake: In it, Rasslor hopes to be the greatest wrestler in all the galaxy, but believes he can achieve it by taking on the greatest heroes. He faces off and defeats most of the heroes, but doesn't even bat an eye when Monkey steps forward
Dustin: Monkey is taken down every time but after the supposed "final blow" Monkey gets back up and tries to beat Rasslor again still pretty weakened from the blow and Rasslor sees the determination in the little primate
Blake: Rasslor decides to spare the earth, showing that there's more to strength than just big muscles; strength also equates to determination and a willingness to keep going
Dustin: even though Monkey didn't get a lot of episodes unlike another series we'll be talking about Monkey still was an amazing character overall even making some appearances here and there after the Dial M for Monkey segments were dropped what do you have to say about Dial M for Monkey Blake?
Blake: I think it's an enjoyable segment with memorable villains, and Monkey has proved to be a great hero
Dustin: oh yes and now it's time to see some more heroes! but in a different light
Part 2: The Justice Friends
[the opening of said segment starts up]
Serious Voice Jeff Bennett: The Justice Friends! three of Earth's mightiest heroes! joining forces under one roof...
Comedic voice Jeff Bennett: To face the challenge of Everyday Life! (lightbulb burns out)
[the three heroes jump forth to replace the bulb as the voice continues]
Jeff Bennett's narration: Starring Major Glory! Valhallen! and the Infraggable Krunk, in... the Justice Friends!
Dustin: back in the 90's comedic superheroes was a funny thing until Teen Titans GO ruined everything... yes there is the 60's Batman with Adam West but Batman got better as the years passed with the Tim Burton movies and of course the 1992 Animated Series anyways there were quite a few comedy centric superhero shows made around at that time such as The Tick and Freakazoid as such since Dial M for Monkey was a more serious and sometimes funny segment The Justice Friends is more of a sitcom series with audience laugh track and all X3
Blake: The series focuses on the titular Justice Friends; their leader is Major Glory, a patriotic Captain America wannabe voiced by Rob Paulsen He's mostly responsible, if not a bit pushy when it comes to giving orders for his compatriots to do. They do squabble at times, but Major Glory does try his hardest, even if he is a bit bragadoccious
Dustin: the Infraggable Krunk a dimwitted purple Hulk who enjoys watching puppets bonking each other on the head voiced by Frank Welker while he may be a big guy with little brains he does have a nice soft side almost like a kid and i just love his voice X3
Blake: And my personal favorite; Valhallen, a glorious combination of a Norse God and a rockstar, voiced by Tom Kenny. In fact, his name comes from Valhalla, a kingdom in Nordic Mythology, and Van Halen, a rockstar
Dustin: this series i would say is probably more popular than Dial M for Monkey as it got 9 episodes made two of them being made during the second season while Monkey only had one new episode in season 2 again Quackor the Fowl doesn't count but it was still a great segment back to the Justice Friends we do have some good episodes to look at and Blake will start us off with a love story for good and evil
Number 9: Krunk's Date - Season 1, Episode 9B
Blake: In this episode, we meet an evil counterpart to the Justice Friends, led by Comrade Red. As Krunk is taking on some of the team members, he stops when he sees a female equivalent of himself, named She Thing. Krunk can't help but be smitten
Dustin: so in love during this battle Krunk attempts to get She Thing's attention only for it to get ignored at every turn... that is until Krunk poorly reads a poem which gets She Thing into Krunk and she's voiced by Kath Soucie as well giving her a voice similar to Betty DeVille in Rugrats but more in the Krunk vocabulary
Blake: As the other heroes and villains fight each other, Krunk and She Thing spend time together in the park. However, the heroes and villains unintentionally break up the date, or rather, breaks She Thing's fingernail. This angers Krunk, and beats up everybody else
Dustin: after that the villains are put in the paddy wagon on their way to jail and Krunk says goodbye to She Thing and Krunk is sadly heartbroken in the end of the episode at least he still has his friends this was a weird episode but it was still pretty cool in a way
Blake: A real West Side Story kind of deal, only with less singing and less good grammar, it's still a good episode, even if it's on the very bottom of our list
Number 8: Can't Nap - Season 1, Episode 13B
Dustin: we've mentioned this episode before in another list but here is where we get to talk about it full time in this episode Valhallen is seen being defeated by a supervillain called Mental Mouse as he takes his legendary Axe however his victory is cut short when fellow Justice Friend White Tiger comes to Valhallen's rescue
Blake: Valhallen is so grateful that he allows White Tiger to stay the night, even though Major Glory is allergic to cats.
Dustin: during the night after Valhallen goes to bed Krunk sleepwalks in and gets some milk to drink which lures in White Tiger for a quick drink then a small bit of his hair gets to Major Glory which has him see the cat in his home! i kinda have a bit of an issue with this episode how come Major Glory & Krunk don't recognize their own Justice Friend thinking he's some kind of common house cat?
Blake: Maybe this episode takes place some time before they officially met, or maybe it's so late they couldn't be able to pinpoint him
Dustin: yeah but aside from that it's still pretty funny even that bit where Major Glory pulls a WILMA!!! the two soon try their best to get rid of White Tiger only for the apartment to end up in a mess by the morning
Blake: Valhallen wakes up and thinks that Major Glory and Krunk had a wicked party and walked with White Tiger to get some breakfast. I enjoy the chaotic shenanigans that went on in this one, even if I understand Dustin doesn't like it as much
Dustin: yeah not really my favorite in all honesty there are better ones out there :-)
Number 7: Pain in the Mouth - Season 2, Episode 50B
Blake: While Krunk is enjoying some tv time and nachos, a tortilla chip gets stuck in one of his molars... ow X< Valhallen makes the suggestion to take Krunk to the dentist, but for some reason, Major Glory thinks there could be a more simple solution
Dustin: the first few things they try is yanking Krunk's chip tooth with a string first they tried a door which doesn't work, Valhallen's viking car which also doesn't work and finally a rocket ship which hilariously also doesn't work man that tooth is built to stay in Krunk's mouth huh? soon Major Glory decides it's time to use their powers to get rid of the tooth starting with Valhallen
Blake: With an awesome guitar solo and screaming fangirls, it seems to be working, but Krunk gets into the song, and closes his mouth, knocking Valhallen onto his back
Dustin: Major Glory steps up next using... an eagle puppet obviously this doesn't work either so they call upon the rest of the Justice Friends White Tiger whose scratches are ineffective, Living Bullet who gets his head dented, Phantone... who does nothing, Miss Spell who just zaps the tooth and finally Capital G who tries pulling the tooth out by shrinking and going into Krunk's mouth but of course that also doesn't work and Major Glory comes up with a very drastic plan to get rid of the tooth
Blake: They had to call upon.... the villains, who script that Krunk will perish if he's hit in the mouth. Valhallen and Major Glory argue again, while Krunk calmly steps out of the battle cloud when Krunk hears Valhallen talk about the dentist
Dustin: soon Krunk by himself is in the Dentist's office and is called in and what does he do? the dentist gently pulls out the chip in the molar... that's it... a simple solution is better than trying to pull the entire tooth out! that... is pretty awesome X3
Blake: Definitely; and it ends with a lesson about how you should take care of your teeth and let Dentists do their work
Dustin: indeed isn't that right Major Glory?
Major Glory: [as the dentist uses a tool in his mouth] ri-ha-ha-hight!!!
Number 6: Ratman - Season 1, Episode 11B
Dustin: in this episode Krunk & Valhallen play a little too much with the toilet putting anything random in it however their fun literally breaks the toilet as a boiler is the basement starts to expand in a dangerous manner so they go down to the basement while also avoiding their American hero roomate in a towel and go to find the problem and they run back up scared after seeing a scary figure so Major Glory joins in to help
Blake: The three venture into the sewers to find a mysterious figure; a man in a rat suit under the moniker of Ratman (a not so subtle parody of Batman)
Dustin: it's here where we got a backstory on Ratman which is surprisingly similar to the Batman story... kinda... after a night of going to the movies with his parents a small rat in the sewer came out and his parents ran away...
Ratman: FOREVER!!! [echoes]
Dustin: so from here he was adopted by the rats and learns their ways and becomes Ratman this backstory is weird and raises a lot of questions as Valhallen points out after the backstory is finished
Blake: Yeah... anyway, they try to fight, but a boiler builds up a lot of pressure, and is on the verge of exploding
Dustin: so the three heroes jump forth to stop the boiler only for all three to fail miserably then Ratman comes up, wrenches a bolt on the boiler and fixes it! the Justice Friends are so grateful they decide to let Ratman join them as part of the Justice Friends leading to a pretty funny ending
Blake: Yes, he's an honorary member of the Justice Friends... as their mechanic. What a surprise. But mechanics are still heroes in their own ways.
Number 5: Bee Where? - Season 1, Episode 12B
Blake: now this was a funny episode, with a simple concept. A bee flies into the Muscular Arms apartment, and the Justice friends try everything they can to get it out
Dustin: the opening of this episode really sells it i also don't like bees but Major Glory really makes the whole thing sound like it's a dangerous thing XD anyways they try their best to get rid of it Krunk tries to smash it however his hand gets stung they then also have a plan to open the window to let the bee fly out but Major Glory has a deciding problem on keeping it open or closed because keeping it open might bring more bees in the apartment or keeping it closed will keep the bee they already have in the apartment still
Blake: It all comes to a header as they attempt their ultimate team move; the Justice Frenzy. So Major Glory spins his team members around, in an effort to get rid of the bee... and it didn't work
Dustin: so the episode ends with all three watching TV outside of the apartment while the bee still flies around inside this was a pretty funny episode and shows that superheroes can be scared of common things like bees X3
Number 4: TV Super Pals - Season 1, Episode 7B
Dustin: this is the episode that introduces us to the Justice Friends after Dial M for Monkey was done for the season in this episode first off a villain called the Disgruntled Postman who looks like the Batman Animated Series Joker if he was a mailman tries to mail a bomb to the president but is then stopped by Major Glory after the postman is defeated he tells a joke to the news people and so tempted to hear it again asks when the airing will come on they say 5:30 so Major Glory speeds back home
Blake: Meanwhile, a minotaur has sirens singing against their will and he records them for his own evil purposes. But, the minotaur's plot is foiled by Valhallen.. actually the Minotaur was pretty cool about it, and even asked for Valhallen's autograph
Dustin: so Valhallen asks the minotaur for the time it's about 5:30 which makes Valhallen remember his Monster Truck Pull is coming on soon so he heads off to home too meanwhile Krunk is seen trying to help bring a cat down from the tree and was about to throw the little girl up there to get it down she tells him to stop Krunk then starts a tantrum smashing the ground and also got the cat down X3 then the little girl's mother comes out telling them it's 5:30 and the TV Puppet Pals are on so Krunk heads home jumping like a happy rabbit XD
Blake: So the Justice friends make it back to the Muscular Arms apartment, and Krunk starts to watch TV Puppet Pals on TV
Dustin: this is where the Puppet Pals have originated and have become regulars in both Dexter's Laboratory, the Justice Friends and even in the Powerpuff Girls in some occasions anyways Major Glory & Valhallen start fighting over who wants to watch their respected show all the while Krunk is still watching the Puppet Pals
Blake: In their squabbling, the TV gets destroyed, making Krunk very angry; so angry that he comes close to smashing Major Glory and Valhallen
Krunk: Krunk want Puppet Pals!
Dustin: so Krunk has a way to fix the problem as a result Major Glory & Valhallen become TV Puppet Pals complete with bonking bat as they entertain Krunk X3 for an introduction this was a good one and Krunk kinda scared me for a while after the part where the TV got destroyed but i grew to love him XD
Blake: A good introduction to a great team
Number 3: Say Uncle Sam - Season 1, Episode 10B
Blake: Major Glory's Uncle Sam is going to visit Major Glory, and Major Glory tries to keep his team in line before his visit
Dustin: before you ask Uncle Sam is in fact the same Uncle Sam from those well known I Want You Posters which has been parodied a lot of times in different media including the infamous Sir Topham Hatt poster in Thomas & the Magic Railroad anyways over the week Major Glory tries his best to get the team and the apartment ready for Uncle Sam's visit
Blake: With lessons in good etiquette and posture, as well as a clean apartment and new ensembles, Major Glory puts his team through a lot.. so much so that he even gets pushy with the others
Dustin: afterwards Krunk & Valhallen annoyed over this beat Major Glory up and just in time as Uncle Sam has arrived and in an unexpected twist... Uncle Sam has become a hippie!
Blake: Apparently, he had doctors orders that he was being too strict, so he was ordered to mellow out. He hits it off well with Valhallen and Krunk, while Major Glory collapses with exhaustion
Dustin: this was a pretty funny episode the timeline of the whole week was pretty funny and the unexpected twist makes it funnier X3
Number 2: Valhallen's Room - Season 1, Episode 8B
Dustin: in this episode Valhallen doesn't come to breakfast and Major Glory & Krunk can hear his cries of pain so they enter his room which is an amazingly huge room man i wish i had something that big! there they find the rock god laying in his bed in pain
Blake: They discover that Valhallen's mighty axe is not with him, and Valhallen begins to transform... into a nerd!
Dustin: so the two try to help find his axe but to no avail then some living clothes grab onto Krunk and pull him into the closet having him wear the clothes of a rocker!
Blake: Billy, Valhallen's pet goat, goes to save the day, and it's revealed that he had swallowed Valhallen's axe
Dustin: so Major Glory throws the goat to Valhallen's way on the verge of becoming a nerd and soon the power of the axe flows into Valhallen in this epic scene
Valhallen: I HAVE THE POWER!!!
Blake: Nice He-Man reference. So Valhallen is back to normal and he joins the others for breakfast, with Krunk's pancakes eaten by Billy
Krunk: maybe Krunk have goat's milk for breakfast! >:(
Number 1: Things that Go Bonk in the Night - Season 2, Episode 25B
Blake: An episode so epic it's title wasn't spoken aloud. In it, Krunk has been watching a marathon of the TV Puppet Pals for four days straight. The others worry that Krunk is sleep deprived, and they hope he'll get some sleep while they go to the roller rink
Dustin: soon Krunk falls asleep then suddenly a roller skating zebra in a trench coat arrives and takes him to the Puppet Pal Palace where Krunk meets his Puppet Pal heroes Puppet Pal Mitch & Puppet Pal Clem
Blake: So after the puppet pals tell a joke to Krunk, who almost crushes them with laughter, Krunk asks to join them as a puppet pal, complete with his own script and costume. After the Puppet Pals give Krunk's joke a go, Puppet Pal Mitch becomes angry and rants about Krunk's idiocy
Dustin: that's when the Justice Puppets come in puppet versions of Major Glory & Valhallen as an all out puppet battle occurs! then we see it was Major Glory & Valhallen controlling Mitch & Clem and Mitch and Clem were... controlling... the Justice... Puppets...
Krunk: WHAT'S GOING ON HERE?!
Blake: My thoughts exactly. So another battle commences, only with the Justice Friends and the actual Puppet Pals. Krunk is so distressed that he shouts out, but finds that he's back in the apartment in front of the TV, saying that it was all a dream... or was it?
Dustin: i really loved this segment as a kid much more than Dial M for Monkey the humor is great the use of it being a sitcom is ingenious and the characters are awesome X3
Blake: Indeed; and the cast works off of each other very well :)
Dustin: indeed after both segments were dropped in favor of more Dexter the characters would still have more appearances within the second season either as themselves, toys or other things until the finale Last But Not Beast which is a total all out full episode with all 3 shows in one as for the last two seasons not much have been done with both the Monkey and Justice Friends characters in those seasons even spewing out the infamous Quackor cartoon and Major Glory, Valhallen & Tiki Torch made an appearance in one of the more weaker Powerpuff Girls episodes Members Only the crossover was a good idea but the characters were a tad unlikeable there
Blake: Yeah, though I did like the ending of that episode where the girls save the AWSM from that mechanical manly thing :P Well, I'm glad we could do this together :)
Dustin: same here but i know what you guys might be asking what about the good Dexter's Laboratory episodes? well... join us next week ;)
~skullz & Fuwa out
-----------------------------------------
Dustin: welcome to another Woodfox Talks & Rants today we've got a special one for you guys [shows the DVD] Dexter's Laboratory! if you grew up when Cartoon Network was gaining traction after 1992 you'll remember the time in the mid 90's when Cartoon Network made a special program called What a Cartoon to showcase Cartoons that might get a chance to become the next big original for the channel and the first to come from that was of course Dexter's Laboratory in 1996 making it the channel's very first original animated program after Space Ghost: Coast to Coast
