It's a Pretty Good Anima It Has Lovable Characters and Stories

Mixed bag mostly. And I say this as someone who genuinely does love the show and characters.

Rwby is bad, but in a fascinating way: it's bad in the way that most professional media just plain isn't. It commits writing sins and flaws that you expect more from amateur fanfiction than a badly-written professional TV show. It may be interesting for that alone.

I'll be honest, that's a pretty horrible take, unless you're talking about volume 5. The series has evolved and grown over the years. Granted the first few volumes were rough, and then pre-V6 is kinda rough too in other regards, it isn't BAD. It's got flaws and I won't deny that. But it certainly isn't bad.

People unfairly shit on it. One of the main reasons is the "original" premise or setting of the show dissolved (for good in-universe reason) and it changed. Another is the series creator passed away due to a freak allergic reaction after the end of volume 2 and many thought that the way vol 4 onward went was because "it wasn't his vision" as if the series writers at the time...weren't already writing it.

Don't get me wrong, there's a lot to criticize. But a lot of people forget RWBY was Rooster Teeth's first big step outside of machinima for a series. It was rough at first, but the last two volumes and the current one have done nothing but improve.

It's pretty good. You're a fan of fighting games so I'd suggest checking it out. I feel like you'd like it a fair bit. It ain't perfect but what is? Also cute stuff here. Ruby has been the object of a few of my story commissions too ^^

Makes sense, seeing as the creator started with stuff like Dead Fantasy and Haloid (both worth a watch if you like over the top fighting)
