The door Lock was broken, no big surprise given the area. He"d been away for some time since entering in to Nyekundu"s "Employment" and had only taken the bare minimum from his old hole to where he was staying now, but there were still some things to pick up. Entering in to the dump of an apartment with a bag of drinks and some takeout Frank decided to give the old place a proper sendoff, or at least as proper as he"d think to do it. This was how he spent so many nights for years: coming back to this dump with Noodles, soda, maybe some beer after his crap shift with whatever he"d been hired out to security detail for, eyes glued to a screen or 3D display, alone, waiting for it all to start the next day.
His life had certainly become much more exciting, more enjoyable with his "rebirth" of sorts, but it wasn"t without it"s share of dangers. Even more enemies now, even more reason to dig out his old "Kalash from where he"d hidden it behind a layer of carefully camouflaged plaster and cement. After taking the time to clean the dust and grit out of the old Rifle, checking what rounds he"d stashed, if the magazines were still good, Frank finally settled in to try and enjoy his meal from that old man at the Noodle Cart down the road who, despite his altered appearance, seemed to recognize Frank immediately.
There was a strange comfort to this old routine, in not being beholden to anyone else and simply enjoying the relative quiet within those concrete walls... But already those familiar pangs within the back of his mind began to drift towards where he was before: Alone. It"s why he"d had "her", he thought as he glanced down to the still glowing display upon the floor. Maybe he should say hello? Would she even recognize him? It had been so long since he saw her pretty face-
A soft light had begun to seep in to the room, the front door had been opened ever so slightly. There was one person at least. Dinner would have to wait.I honestly cannot believe that I forgot to upload this, the long awaited update to the original sketch of Frank in his old Apartment! highthnekohnz really went above and beyond anything I could have expected. I hope to get more work from him in the future.
